πŸ’œA huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our special Cancer Awareness Round on Saturday πŸ’œ

Congratulations to all those who were lucky enough to win prizes through our raffle, and thank you to everyone who purchased ribbons, enjoyed the delicious cupcakes, and donated towards our Shave for a Cause fundraiser.

What began with Jordy taking the clippers to his hair turned into a truly special moment when Stacey Farmer bravely shaved her head in support of her mum, Leonie, who is currently battling lung cancer. There weren’t many dry eyes in the room. A few others then joined in to help finish the night off in style.

Every dollar raised will be donated, and we are incredibly grateful for the support shown by everyone involved.

A special thank you to Nathen Peck from Warta Wuluju Concrete Pumping & β€œFromTha6” for their generous donation and continued support of the club. Contributions like these make a real difference and are greatly appreciated by everyone at Cooby.

Ladies V Swan Valley

The ladies were pumped to be back on home turf for our first ever round like this.

They came out firing and dominated the first half of footy, keeping the opponents to just one goal.

Annali was dominant all day, kicking 10 goals, while Mon.K wound back the clock through the midfield and added two goals of her own. Shannon was suburb & The youth of the club ran all day and played their role.

Reserves V Noranda

Sitting inside the top five, the 2s on paper had one of their stronger teams all year. They were dominant from start to finish against a club that is rebuilding.

Summo kicked 5, with Shuka and Thomas adding 3 each. Ako was solid in the ruck, while Jarvis, Greg and Jason.B all shined, and the rest of the side played their role which is important if they want to compete in finals.

The boys put on a show, showing off their skill, speed, teamwork and getting back to their dominant best.

JJ had our mids first to the footy, while Jordy, Trav and Troy were everywhere. Jimmy had a paddock every time he touched it, and the forwards were fighting each other for goals.

Bang kicked 9 in three quarters, while Curtis kicked 6, Bobby and Mal added 3 each, Ivan chipped in with 2 and a few others got amongst it.

150-point winners βœ…βœ…βœ…

The boys sit second on the ladder at the halfway point of the season.

A little derby action away from home saw a good game of thirds footy, with Cockburn proving too good on the day. Credit to their depth and youth.

New recruits Clarkie and Leevarn starred, while the experienced heads Ross/Brian Pickett & Peter Ford went hard all day.

A reminder to join us at Tempest Park this Saturday as the club comes together to raise awareness and funds for Perth Children’s Hospital.

There will be plenty of ways to get involved throughout the day:

🎁 Raffles & Hampers – 1 ticket $2 | 3 tickets $5
βœ‚οΈ Shave for a Cause – Jordan Walley and Bill Farmer will be shaving their hair after the League game, each aiming to raise $500 for this important cause.

Adding a splash of colour to the day, Harmony Bellotti from our Women’s Team will also be spray painting her hair pink and purple in support of cancer awareness. πŸ’—πŸ’œ

Round 8 Recap 🐱

Three of our four teams hit the road this weekend, with mixed results as the thirds had another week off.

Ladies vs Kingsway

Our first meeting with Kingsway and unfortunately it was a tough day for the girls. We controlled the midfield for most of the game but couldn’t make the most of our opportunities going forward and struggled to stop Kingsway converting theirs.

Reserves vs Yanchep

It had been a while since the Cooby boys made the trip to Yanchep. Travelling is never easy and it always shows who is committed to pulling on the jumper.

We got a full side together, although not our strongest on paper. Fortunately, Yanchep faced similar challenges. The boys took control and came away with a convincing 86-point win.

If you thought the reserves were stretched, the league side was missing nearly half the team. With five players backing up from the reserves and plenty of boys stepping up a grade, the challenge was there.

The response? Another strong performance and a 79-point victory.
