Supporting the Future of the Raiders 💛💚💙

The Coolamon Junior Raiders are incredibly proud to donate $1,500 to support the return of the Coolamon Senior Raiders in 2027.

Rugby league in Coolamon has a proud history, stretching back to the Kennedy Shield days, when the Raiders took the field before the competition folded in the mid-1990s. Those players, volunteers and supporters laid the foundations for the Raiders we know today.

That generosity continued when Vinnie Leary and the Coolamon Raiders Old Boys gifted their remaining club funds to our Coolamon Raiders Juniors, supporting the next generation to wear the Raiders colours.

We’re proud to now be in a position to pass this support forward and help the Coolamon Raiders RLFC begin rebuilding for the future. A strong senior club creates a pathway for our juniors and strengthens the Raiders community from top to bottom.

This donation represents half of the initial $3,000 contribution generously provided to our club.

Thank you again to the late Vinnie and the Senior Raiders Old Boys for their generosity and continued support of rugby league in Coolamon.

📣 MEET THE COACH | LADIES LEAGUE TAG 🟢🟡

We’ve been keeping this one under wraps… but it’s time to let the secret out! 👀

The Coolamon Raiders are excited to announce Carlie “Carl” Mcgrath as our Ladies League Tag Captain/Coach for the 2027 season! 🏉🔥

Carlie brings plenty of footy experience to the Raiders, having played across League Tag, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Oztag and even a bit of AFL, pulling on the boots for around nine different teams along the way.

Now she’s ready to take on the next challenge — leading our Ladies League Tag side as we bring senior footy back to Coolamon. 💚💛

We’re absolutely pumped to have Carl on board and can’t wait to see the squad she puts together.

Next up in our Committee Profile series is our Vice President, Matthew “Coatesy” Coates!

Coatesy brings plenty of sporting experience to the Raiders, having pulled on the boots across Rugby League, Rugby Union and AFL over the years — with a few premierships along the way! 🏆

A Bulldogs man who’s thrown Scott Minto into the conversation for favourite player 😂, Coatesy has been a big part of the work happening behind the scenes as we build towards bringing Senior Rugby League back to Coolamon in 2027.

REBUILDING THE SENIOR RAIDERS

Did you know? 🤔

The story of senior Rugby League in Coolamon stretches back to the Kennedy Shield, where the Raiders first pulled on the boots before the competition eventually folded in the mid-1990s.

Throughout those years, a huge number of people from Coolamon and surrounding towns wore the Raiders colours, volunteered their time, stood on the sidelines and helped build the club.

As we work towards the return of senior Rugby League to Coolamon in 2027, we’re not starting from scratch. We’re rebuilding on the foundations laid by the players, volunteers and supporters who came before us.

And luckily, in a sports-mad town like Coolamon, plenty of people have held onto old photos, stories and pieces of Raiders history!

Over the coming months, 'Rebuilding the Senior Raiders' will dig into the archives and share some of those memories as we reconnect the Raiders of the past with the club we’re building for the future.

As we continue building towards the return of Coolamon Raiders Senior Rugby League in 2027, we’re kicking off a new series introducing the people who helped get the club back off the ground.

First up is our President, Ross “Slab” Walters.

Ross has been a driving force behind the scenes from day one, helping turn the idea of bringing senior rugby league back to Coolamon into something very real.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll introduce the rest of the committee and the people putting in the work to get the Raiders back on the paddock.

Meet our co captain coaches for the return of Coolamon Raiders Senior Rugby League in 2027 – Jack Kelly and Tom Besgrove.

Between them, they’ve played plenty of footy over the years, won a few premierships, lost few too and have been around the game long enough to know that effort, mateship and enjoying your footy count for a lot.

Both men are looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season, meeting plenty of new faces and helping bring senior rugby league back to Coolamon.
