Tough.
The Crickets welcomed Narrandera to Kindra Park to start the season last Saturday. The Crickets were left short after some late withdrawals, which left the crickets down to 9 men by the time play finished. Narrandera elected to bat first, with the Narrandera top order frustrating the Coolamon attack, but the scoring remained steady with the Crickets holding their own until drinks. After drinks, however, Narrandera took the game to Coolamon, who missed several chances in the field. J. Doyle was the best of the batsman scoring a fantastic 87, with Jordan Camm taking 3/30 as Narrandera blasted their way to 224.
The Crickets however, remained determined and were scoring runs freely in the first 20 overs thanks to some imperious partnerships by Sam Robinson, Nathan Webber and Jeremy Robinson, which saw the crickets in the game well into the final overs. Sam Robinson was fantastic, and showed zero rust at the crease as he fought his way to an incredible 84*. Nathan Webber made 32 and Jeremy Robinson made 26, while Andy Haenig had a very entertaining cameo making 25. As the wickets tumbled into the middle order and with the sun setting rapidly over Kindra Park, the Crickets fell short at the final hurdle, needing just 9 to win from the last 2 overs, 3 batsmen fell without troubling the scores to see the 9 man Crickets defeated on the opening day.
