SLSWA 2026 WOODSIDE NIPPER CLUB OF THE YEAR 🎉

Last night, Coogee Beach SLSC was awarded Woodside Nipper Club of the Year for 2026. From the development of new initiates to hosting of Nipper carnivals, we are extremely proud of the program at our club.

This award isn’t for the efforts of one or two people - it’s for every individual and family involved no matter how big or small. Everyone plays a part in creating our amazing program so thank you 🧡💙

Woodside Nipper Club of the Year - Awards of Excellence Finalist 🌟

We’re incredibly proud to be named a finalist for Woodside Nipper Club of the Year at the 2025/2026 SLSWA Awards of Excellence.

This season has been a huge step forward for our Nippers program, built on strong planning, quality delivery, and a focus on developing confident, capable young lifesavers. From structured weekly sessions and dedicated water safety, to tailored surf awareness and lifesaving skill development, our program continues to put safety, learning, and enjoyment at the centre 💛❤️

We’ve also introduced a number of exciting initiatives this season including pre-season evaluations allowing Nippers to hit the ground running from week one, a Joint Nipper Day with Fremantle SLSC with over 600 participants, and expanded training opportunities across surf sports with strong weekly attendance.

Our focus on development pathways has seen continued growth, with improvements across participation, performance, and skill development. Programs like “Become a Lifesaver for a Day” are helping create confident transitions from Nippers into Youth, ensuring we are building the next generation of lifesavers.

A huge thank you to our dedicated Age Managers, water safety, coaches, volunteers, and families who make this program what it is - this recognition belongs to all of you 👏

Trainer of the Year - Awards of Excellence Finalist ⭐️

We’re incredibly proud to announce Lachlan Olive as a finalist for Trainer of the Year at the 2025/2026 SLSWA Awards of Excellence.

Lachlan has played a huge role in developing our members this season as Training Officer, leading the delivery of key awards including the SRC and Bronze Medallion courses, and ensuring our patrol teams are skilled, confident, and ready for the beach.

With over 750 patrol hours and advanced qualifications across IRB, RWC, and patrol leadership, Lachlan brings a wealth of real-world experience into every training session. His passion for mentoring, particularly supporting youth transitioning into patrol service, has helped build confident, capable lifesavers across the club.

Beyond training, Lachlan has made a significant impact through initiatives like supporting Beach Bumz Camp, organising the club’s Movember Patrol, and contributing to education development at both state and national levels. His work continues to strengthen not just our club, but the broader Surf Life Saving community.

Lachlan truly leads from the front and inspires those around him through his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to continuous improvement 💛❤️

Young Surf Life Saver of the Year - Awards of Excellence Finalist 🌟

We’re incredibly proud to announce Sean Aitken as a finalist for Young Surf Lifesaver of the Year at the 2025/2026 SLSWA Awards of Excellence.

Sean has had an outstanding season, stepping up as Vice-Captain of Orange Patrol and consistently leading by example through his reliability, strong work ethic, and commitment to the team. His dedication to development has seen him achieve key qualifications including IRB Driver, Patrol Captain, and Drone Patrol Operator, strengthening both his own capability and the club’s operational response.

Beyond the qualifications, Sean has made a real impact across the club - mentoring newer members, supporting patrol operations, and driving improvements such as enhancing IRB efficiency and equipment readiness. His leadership has helped build a positive, high-performing patrol environment and contributes directly to safer beach outcomes for our community.

Sean truly embodies the values of Surf Life Saving through his service, teamwork, and commitment to continuous improvement 💛❤️

The Learn 2 Lead Program is a SLSWA program designed for members who want to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and take the next step - whether that’s helping out more at CBSLSC, moving into a role, or just growing personally.

👉 Who’s it for?
• Members aged 18–30
• Anyone keen to get more involved in the club
• Current or future patrol captains, age group leaders, committee members, surf sports helpers, etc.
• You don’t need experience, just a good attitude and willingness to learn

👉 What you’ll get:
• Leadership & teamwork development
• Opportunities to connect with members from other clubs
• Skills you can use at the club, work, and everyday life
