It's another rainy day 🫣. I thought I would update the page before I go into hospital tomorrow. We went down to Coffs Harbour for a couple of days and caught up with friends from back when we were young. It must have been about thirty-five years since we saw them and we just caught up from where we had left off. It's amazing that one can do that with some people.

A couple of photos of a “seal” lying on the shore with waves splashing all over it. Grains of sand ( am I the only one that can see so much beauty and detail in a handful of sand? 😂.

A few surfers are heading out to the surf zone.

A wonderful fishing platform (pier) at Coffs Harbour.

An update on my avocado grafting journey. This graft is making great progress and I hope to graft a few different varieties to it and plant the tree in my garden.

A little flathead caught during my last fishing session. Even catching such a small fish gets me excited. In five to ten years' time, this is going to be a quality fish for a young person to catch. I wonder how many times it would have been caught and released by then?

I could watch this all day. The sea is so fascinating, never the same wave or wash, constantly changing and moving.

I am hoping the rain stays away this evening. I want to target a mulloway from the beach. Although it’s about 20 knots of westerly wind the eastern beach should be fine. Check out the rig I will be using, 20 lb leader, mainline of 8 kg, bait runner reel on a 3-6 kg 2 m length carbon fibre rod. I will fish from about 5:30 pm to perhaps 7 pm.

I made these yesterday morning because it was raining and I was looking for something to do. My first attempt at making marshmallow and it tastes delicious. My grandchildren are going to love these.

This photo was taken at the beach . My dad was the best angler that I have fished with. I remember one day, fishing the Sunday’s River bank, he caught more fish by himself than me, my two brothers, my uncle and my two cousins all added together. We were targeting school mulloway ( there was no size or bag limits in those days) around the 500 mm size range. We caught sixty three fish in total, I caught seven of them which was the second most, he must have caught between forty to fifty of them. The two of us did everything together; fished, collected drift wood for wood carving, oil painting, gardening, breeding birds and rabbits to sell to the pet shops was a little business that he set up for me. He was a gifted musician 😊.

Greg, joined me for the fishing and he said it was the biggest whiting that he has ever caught. Nice catch, Greg. Not bad for the first time he has gone whiting fishing with me.
