their competitive goals through events held locally and at state, national and international level. We enjoy a healthy lifestyle through physical fitness and a regular social program. We have a strong representation of breast cancer survivors and supporters who promote awareness through Dragons Abreast Townsville (see separate FB page for details). Dragon boat paddling is particularly good for developing strength, endurance, co-ordination and is a great core-specific workout.

Our 2026 Intercity Regatta was only possible because of the incredible people, clubs and community organisations who gave their time, expertise and support.

πŸ’™ To our volunteers – our organising committee, Head Coach Libby, coaches, sweeps, drummers, race officials, start and finish line crews, safety boat crew, BBQ and food tent volunteers, boat handlers, drivers, paddlers who ferried Blaze’s boat to and from Loam Island, our toilet-cleaning crew, and everyone who stepped in wherever they were needed… thank you. Your dedication kept the regatta running safely and smoothly from start to finish.

πŸ’› To our community partners – thank you to the Rotary Club of Townsville, The Townsville Chinese Club Inc. ζ±€εΈ‚εŽδΎ¨δΌš for leading the Dotting of the Eyes ceremony and sharing the traditions of dragon boating, our local Woolworths and Coles for supporting the BBQ, Dragon Boat Queensland / DBQ for supporting the Coaches MasterClass, and Martin for delivering such a practical and informative session.

A huge thank you to our North Queensland dragon boat family from Townsville, Cairns and Mackay for making our 2026 Intercity Regatta such a great success.

Special thanks to everyone who attended Saturday’s Coaches MasterClass. Thank you, Martin, for sharing your knowledge in such an informative, practical and easy-to-understand session. It was wonderful to see coaches from across North Queensland learning together and strengthening our sport.

The racing was competitive, the camaraderie was outstanding, and the Dragon Spirit was on full display all weekend. That’s what makes our Intercity Regatta so special.

As everyone heads home, we wish all our travelling clubs a safe journey. Thank you for supporting our regattaβ€”we can’t wait to see you all again next year!
