Townsville Dragon Boat Club Inc Dragon boat paddling is a team sport for people of any age - our club welcomes members over 12 years of age.

🗓️ Tuesdays & Thursdays 🕓5.00pm 📍Riverway, Sporting Dr, Riverway Precinct
🗓️ Saturdays 🕖7.00am 📍The Strand behind Tobruk Pool We have a mix of social and competitive members, predominantly in the Masters divisions. We have first class training facilities and equipment and encourage members to achieve their competitive goals through events held locally and at state, national and international level. We enjoy a healthy lifestyle through physical fitness and a regular social program. We have a strong representation of breast cancer survivors and supporters who promote awareness through Dragons Abreast Townsville (see separate FB page for details). Dragon boat paddling is particularly good for developing strength, endurance, co-ordination and is a great core-specific workout.

🙌 A huge thank you to our club members who volunteered their time to support the MA Olympic Football Club end-of-season breakup.

From the BBQ and fryers to the serving counter, our volunteers helped keep the celebrations running and the food flowing. 🌭🍔🍟

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support our local community, and these fundraising events make a valuable contribution to our club.

A big thank you to Ange and everyone at MA Olympic Football Club for having us back. We appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to working with you again.

🌅 IT’S ALWAYS WORTH THE EFFORT 🐉

Tuesday night on the Ross River.

Libby kept the crew working, but around us the river was putting on its own show. A beautiful sunset, a kangaroo stopping for a drink and the lily pads beginning to flower. 🌸🦘

There’s something about being on the water that makes you slow down.

Breathe.
Clear your mind.

🌫️ Serious Sunday started in a little bit of a fog…

But what a splendid morning on the Ross! 🐉☀️

Heading upriver, the bridge was playing hide-and-seek… where’s the bridge? 👀🌫️

Then, on the way back downriver, there it was! A beautiful reminder that even a foggy start can turn into a fantastic morning on the water. 💙💛

☀️ CARPE DIEM… SEIZE THE DAY! 🐉

We heard Sunrise was LIVE from The Strand from 5:45am… so we grabbed our dragon head, tail & Baby Dragon 🐉🥁 and went for a photobomb paddle! 🛶

A huge shout-out to everyone who set their alarms and joined us — we certainly made a presence! 📺🙌

Sue even made it onto the BIG SCREEN! 🎉

💙 There’s nothing quite like training in Townsville! 💛

We’re lucky enough to have TWO amazing places to train — and both come with pretty spectacular surroundings! 🙌

🌿 The Ross River — our home of Dragon Den training, surrounded by amazing birdlife, curious roos, freshwater crocs and blossoming lily pads. There’s always something happening around us! 🦘🐊🌿

🌴 The Strand — with beautiful Magnetic Island & Castle Hill views and the sheltered marina to help us keep paddling when conditions get a little bumpy. 🌊🏝️

And this week we welcomed two new Come & Tries! 🐉🛶💙💛

It’s Super Tuesday – Round 1, and some of our fabulous TDBC volunteers are out across Townsville this morning counting bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️🛴

We’ve swapped our paddles for clipboards today! 😂📋

As part of Bicycle Network Super Tuesday Counts, volunteers across Australia are helping collect valuable information about how people move around their communities.

The data helps inform:
🚦 Safer roads & crossings
🚲 Better cycling infrastructure
🌱 More sustainable ways to get around

And the best part? Every volunteer hour helps raise funds for local community groups and charities. 💖

A huge shout-out to our TDBC crew who were up and out early this morning — thank you for giving your time and helping make a difference in our community! 🙌

What a fantastic day! 🐉💙💛

A huge thank you to NQ Phoenix Dragon Boat Club Inc Townsville for putting on such a fun regatta and creating such a great community atmosphere. The wind may have turned up, but it certainly didn’t take the excitement out of the day! 🌬️😄

We loved paddling, catching up with friends and meeting new faces. Days like this are what dragon boating is all about — paddling together, having fun and building community. 💪🛶

Thanks NQ Phoenix — we had a ball! 👏🐉
