🥇 🥈 🥉 Congratulations to the Colonel Light Gardens Primary School and their CLG Rollers lawn bowls teams.

Having never played before, this group of kids started practising at the CLG Bowling Club back in February for their Inter-School Carnival - Southern Division.

In the primary school division CLGPS made it a clean sweep taking Gold, Silver & Bronze! What an amazing effort to all the players and coaches - fantastic reward for all your hard work.

Just goes to show you’re never too young or old to take up lawn bowls. Thanks to Bowls SA for the imagery.

It was the Grand Final of our Night Owls Social Lawn Bowls at the Colonel Light Gardens Bowling Club and fair to say it was a little chilly.

After a solid start to the season, we knew the back half would be interrupted with maintenance work on both our greens. Combine that with the the new LED light towers being installed and the old overhead lighting being removed…it was a juggling act of mammoth proportions.

But a huge thank you to all our teams who showed up every week to bring a sense of community spirit to the club. It was great to see everyone’s smiling faces as we all shared in the weekly updates of trenching, wiring, concreting etc.

Last night was also Andrea’s last night in the kitchen, having played and volunteered at CLG for 12 years. Thanks for your gigantic contribution Andrea…we’ll miss you ❤️❤️

It was appropriate that we all got to experience the new light towers in action on the final night and what a difference it has made. The spread of light is amazing and with the overhead lights and rusty old poles gone - the space is so open and clean.

Congratulations to our Grand Final winners - Rolling Under the Influence who defeated last years winners - Sticky Bum Fingers with the scoreline 20 - 11. Enjoy the Mad Monday celebrations!

We will reconvene in October to really enjoy our amazing new space.

🏆 Cobras WIN Wednesday Grand Final 🏆

What a way to finish off the season with our Wednesday Division 4 team taking the pennant.

After a solid season and finishing third on the ladder, the squad went about beating Brighton (4th) in the elimination final, Somerton (1st) in the preliminary final and today beat Marion Force (2nd) in the GF.

Team 1:
Greg Thompson
Dennis Dale
John Barron
Colin Hoffrichter

Team 2:
Peter Callaghan
Ken Hancock
Rick Fraser
Tony Harwood

Team 3:
Peter Ellis
Andy McPharlin
Grant Empen
Kevin Heath

This sees the squad promoted to Division 3 next season and the need for some extra players to fill more spots! What a great problem to have as our club continues its resurgence.

Cannot put into words how proud the club is of its entire membership base as we head into a well deserved break and an exciting 2027!

Congratulations Cobras 🐍 🐍 🐍

I needed a little extra sugar in my coffee this morning to help remove the bitter taste of defeat.

Not the result our Div 7 Cobras had hoped for in yesterday’s Grand Final after such a strong season but congratulations must go to Ascot Park Bowling Club. Put simply - they had more bowls in the head after each end and won 33 of the 54 ends of the match. The final score CLG 45 - AP 68.

Teams Heath, Craig and Fraser can be proud of they way they played out the game. We had many players who contributed throughout the season and on behalf of the club - well done. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger and I can promise you we will be stronger in 2027. There are some huge growth opportunities at our club and this makes for an exciting off-season.

Finishing minor premiers and playing in the GF means we will now be promoted to Division 6 and we look forward to coming up against the Ascot Park Lions next year.

To Metropolitan Bowls Association & Bowls SA - thank you for the tireless work you put in to organising each season and to the Beaumont Bowling Club for hosting such a magnificent day of finals action.

We now turn our focus to the Wed Div 4 team who are also playing in a Grand Final against Marion Force and we wish them every success this week.
