Re: COVID – 19 & Cancellation of ALL Taekwondo Classes
Dear Than Phong Taekwondo Australia Members,
By now you would all be aware of the news around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. At this point in time the government and health agencies have not advised against sports participation.
However, our club is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our members and families. As we continue to monitor the impact of COVID – 19 closely and following the advice of the World Health Organisation and Australia’s Chief Medical Officer, we have implemented the following precautionary measures at our respective Dojangs that will take effect immediately:
▪ Temporary cancellation of ALL Taekwondo classes across all Dojangs until further notice*
▪ Term 1 2020 Grading has been postponed until further notice*
As such, it is pivotal that you have your most current contact details registered at your local dojang. This will ensure that you can receive our latest updates regarding the changes surrounding COVID-19 and our plans for the future including a potential resume date when suitable.
During these unprecedented times, our Than Phong Taekwondo Australia Committee would like to send our sincere regards to all members and their families. We also apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope that our members will support us in our unanimous club decision to prioritise health and safety first.
There is a lot of uncertainty ahead. However, in challenging times, Australians shine and we will pull through this, supporting each other and banding together. We need to remain optimistic and know that as the experts do their best to minimise the impact of the virus, we too will do our best to respect social distancing which in turn will be supporting ourselves, our people and our community.
Lastly, rest assured that our committee will be actively monitoring government and health agencies announcements. In addition, our affiliation with Australian Taekwondo also means that we will be provided with additional expert advice from their Medical Committee, the Australian Institute of Sport and the Australian Olympic Committee regarding the progress of COVID-19. Collectively then as a committee we will make decisions and update our members accordingly.
We appreciate your patience and understanding in these uncertain times. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any specific questions or concerns. Take care and remain calm.
Kindest Regards, Than Phong Australia Committee
