Collie River Trail parkrun
Event #336
13th June 2026

Winter has definitely arrived! The thermometers dropped below zero as we headed out for the best morning of the week. This week 36 people braved the crisp morning to run, jog or walk the course and to, potentially, be part of the one millionth parkrun worldwide since that fateful morning at Bushy on the 2nd of October 2004. I am sure we are all very grateful that Paul Sinton-Hewitt thought a regular 5k run on a Saturday morning would be a good idea and that, perhaps, others would be interested in joining him. As they say, the rest is history.

We welcomed four first timers today. Eileen, Berlin, Aoife and Danielle, we hope you all enjoyed your morning and that we might see you again soon. Welcome back to Natacha for her first visit of 2026 and to Emma and Alex who spent a few weeks in Collie earlier this year on their lap of Australia. Luckily for us, they have an event coming up in Perth so thought they would pop back from Carnarvon for a quick visit. In between parkruns, football, trail runs, Pilates, pickleball, badminton, golf, early morning run club and bingo, oh, and picking up some work whilst they were here, we think they definitely have a knack of filling their days with fun and adventure and have fitted more into their 3 weeks in Collie then many of us manage in a year. All the best on the rest of your travels guys and we definitely expect to see you again in a couple of years when you get bitten by the travel bug again; Queensland isn't that far away after all.

Congratulations to our speedsters, Emma, Anthony (and Rocky), Allara, Alison, Natacha, Dana, Steven and Evie who all achieved new personal best times this morning. Happy birthday to Caity, who is off adventuring at Yokine today and best of luck to Caity, Terresa, Beth, Kate and Sue-Maree who are all heading to Rottnest to have a run with a few thousand other people tomorrow. We hope the weather is kind and that the medals are pretty!

The event today was made possible by 13 volunteers. Thanks to Alison • Tamsin • Sue • Jayne • Murray • Warren • Kaye • Kathy • Jenny • Shane • Mick • Leanne and Sam.

Event #335
6th June 2026

Winter mornings may have induced a few people to remain snug at home however 33 people did brave the cold and crisp morning to run, jog or walk the course. Speaking of brave, welcome to Dominic, and Bella (and Hazel) who are visiting Collie this weekend and who are definitely showing plenty of fortitude by camping. We hope you didn't get frostbitten and that you have enjoyed your weekend. We also welcomed Evie (and friends - I am a little sad I didn't get to meet your beautiful golden retriever) to their first parkrun here and were thrilled to hear that Tenille and Camille not only walked the course, but snuck in a little jogging and running too! That is a great effort for your first ever parkrun Camille. We hope Dad did have the hot chocolate ready and waiting for you when you got home.

Every week we are so impressed by those parkrunners and parkwalkers who set out to do the course just a little bit faster than they ever have before. This weekend Tahlia popped up the hill for a speedy run. Although we couldn't convince her to join us on some interval running mid parkrun Stephanie stayed at a consistent pace and chalked up a PB and Sandy and Mick also encouraged each other to a fabulous time. Well done everyone.

The event was made possible by 14 volunteers. Thank-you to Alison • Caitlin • Tamsin • Joos (and your adorable little side kick) • Sue • Jayne • Murray • Warren • Kaye • Kathy • Jenny • Alison • Zac and Leanne.

Event 334
30th May 2026

62 brave souls turned up to run, jog or walk two laps of the river on the last Saturday of Autumn. We welcomed 14 visitors and new parkrunners including Rupert, Christian, Xavier, Alex, Stuart, Kyla, Felix, Andrew, Mahlia, Tanya, Alistair, Georgia, Yoon, Yee, as well as some clandestine parkrunners who did complete the two laps but who haven't yet officially signed up to the parkrun family. We hope you all had a great time and that we might see you again soon.

Well done to our speedsters for this week, Susan, Alison and Ryan. A new PB is definitely an achievement to be proud of.

It isn't an official milestone, but Leone celebrated her birthday in style by finishing her 275th parkrun! You are a true legend Leone and, even though you probably hate to hear it, you are an inspiration to us all!

The event was made possible by 13 volunteers. Our thanks this week go to Alison • Caity • Tamsin • Sue • Jayne • Murray • Sandra • Warren • Kaye • Kathy • Jenny • Shane and Erik. We couldn't run parkrun without you all.
