Next of our new recruits is Sharnie,
Here is a little about Sharnie so please say hello if you see her at an event or incident (when she is not busy).

1. What made you decide to sign up for CFA?

I decided to join up to CFA after watching my partner, dad and many friends do things like callouts, community events and learn important life skills.

2. What do you hope to get out of being a member of the CFA?

I hope to gain confidence in myself through communicating with people, learn life saving skills, and continue learning as much as I can.

3. What are your initial thoughts of the recruit course process?

Initially things felt a bit overwhelming, there is so much to learn! But I found out very soon that the CFA are a team, and our team is full of people who are willing to help with any and everything. There is always someone around who is there to lend a hand.

4.Do you see yourself still with the CFA in 5-10 years?

I foresee being part of the CFA in someway or another for the rest of my life.

Thanks Sharnie and welcome to the team and we look forward to working alongside you at any upcoming events or incidents.

If anyone is wanting to join the coldstream CFA please send us a message on Facebook or drop in on a Sunday morning for a chat.

❌ VICTORIA POLICE COMMUNITY SAFETY ADVICE ❌
🌧️ **Flooding and Dangerous Road Conditions Across Victoria** 🌧️
Victoria Police is urging all motorists and members of the community to exercise extreme caution as heavy rainfall continues to impact many parts of the state.
Roads can become flooded with little warning, and even shallow water can hide serious hazards including damaged road surfaces, debris, potholes, and strong currents.
**Remember: If it's flooded, forget it.**

Drivers are reminded to:
🚔 Slow down and increase your following distance.
🚔 Never drive through floodwaters, regardless of how shallow they may appear.
🚔 Obey all road closure signs and emergency service directions.
🚔 Turn on your headlights when visibility is reduced by rain.
🚔 Check local road and weather conditions before travelling.
🚔 Avoid unnecessary travel in areas affected by flooding.
Parents are also urged to ensure children stay away from flooded creeks, drains, rivers and waterways, as fast-moving water can be extremely dangerous.

Emergency services are continuing to respond to weather-related incidents across Victoria. Your patience and cooperation help keep everyone safe.
If you encounter an immediate danger to life, call **Triple Zero (000)**.

**Stay informed. Stay alert. Stay safe.**

⚠️ PLEASE TAKE NOTE OVER THIS LONG WEEKEND ⚠️
Important information below from Victoria Police

Winter has arrived in Victoria, which means shorter days, wet roads and mysteriously fewer Melbourne supporters at the MCG.

If you’re heading away this King’s Birthday long weekend, take extra care behind the wheel.

Changing road conditions can catch drivers out quickly - slow down, leave extra space between vehicles, avoid distractions and never drive impaired.

And if you’re heading to the snow, make sure you’re carrying and fitting wheel chains when required.

❗️With the cold, wet weather setting in, many will be turning to their clothes dryer. Always remember to check the lint filter, as lint can build up quickly and cause issues that are easily preventable.

🎋Neale Daniher - 1961 to 2026
What an inspiring man and true legend! He fought a tough battle. Rest in peace, and heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends.

: AFL great Neale Daniher has died aged 65 after years leading the fight against motor neurone disease.

Daniher's family have remembered him as "a fighter" in a statement, who chose "every day to find opportunity where others might see only challenge, and taking the fight to the Beast with everything he had."

Through FightMND and the Big Freeze, Daniher became a national force for MND fundraising and research, driving Australia's push for a cure.
