What does this mean when it comes to things you want (or YOU NEED) to achieve - such as balancing your hormones during menopause or building muscle to rid yourself of knee or back pain.... or what about making sure that the last quarter of your life is a life of quality where you can travel and play in your retirement years?

It means that if you want different results, you need a different routine!!!

Like choosing to make positive changes to the common routines, such as "eating a protein-packed breakfast" instead of โ€œrunning on coffee til lunch.โ€

Or even โ€œgetting morning sunlightโ€ over โ€œscrolling through social media first thing in the morning!โ€

After a while, you wake up and realise youโ€™re not only feeling betterโ€ฆ

Eventually, these habits that once took effort are now just part of your new identity.

Thatโ€™s how you will reach your ultimate goal, such as staying fit and healthy well into your 40s, 50s, and even 60s...

And itโ€™s how you build a future you can actually look forward to.

This morningโ€™s workout was nothing short of a metabolic BURNER.

We came in early, pushed through every set, every rep, and left feeling unstoppable.

Whatโ€™s the payoff? Tonight, a few Halloween treats are on the menu - guilt-free.

When you put in the work, you earn the play. Itโ€™s as simple as that.

Tonight, those candy wrappers wonโ€™t come with a side of guilt; weโ€™ve got the metabolic fires roaring to make sure of that.

Remember, balance is key. Itโ€™s not about depriving ourselves, but knowing that weโ€™ve earned those treats.

You know Greenie as the guy who always brings the laughs ๐Ÿ˜‚ cracking jokes and keeping the gym light-hearted. But on a 1RM testing day? The humor fades, and something incredible happens ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Yesterday was one of those days. Last night, while you were lazing around, with a drink or the munchies in hand, Greenie's deadlift bar was loaded up, and all eyes on him. He was focusedโ€”locked-in, eyes-steel-serious and focused ๐Ÿ˜ค

Screwing the hands into the bar, screwing feet into the floor, he gave a quick, couple of full huffs and puffs. then he was off,

170kg on the bar.

One rep ๐Ÿ’ช
Two reps ๐Ÿ’ฅ

HEAD TO HEEL - STRONG AS STEEL!

Each with a roar that echoed through the gym.... well maybe this bit I'm embellishing... it was only a grunt...

And when the numbers were in? Those two reps translated to a jaw-dropping 1RM of 181.32kg! ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Think about it. Power is the ability to move with speed & force. โšก Itโ€™s not just about lifting heavy weights but lifting them quickly & efficiently. And that carries over into real life in ways you might not expect.

Imagine picking up your kids, jumping over obstacles, or reacting quickly to prevent a fall. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™‚๏ธ All of these require power. By training for it, you're conditioning your body to perform explosive movements, which translate into everyday tasks becoming easier and more efficient.

Power training also engages fast-twitch muscle fibresโ€”the ones responsible for quick, intense movements. ๐Ÿ’ฅ By activating these, you're not just building strength but also improving your muscle coordination and endurance. Yesterday, we took things up a notch, working on the kettlebell sn**chโ€”a perfect exercise for developing power & understanding how our bodies generate it.

๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ The kettlebell sn**ch uses your entire body to create explosive force. From the initial swing to the overhead lockout, every part of your bodyโ€”from your hips to your core to your shouldersโ€”works together to move the kettlebell with speed & control. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

What makes the sn**ch such a great exercise for power development is the emphasis on hip drive. ๐Ÿ”ฅ The power in this movement doesnโ€™t come from your arms, but from the explosive extension of your hips. Itโ€™s a full-body movement that teaches you how to use the largest muscles in your body to create momentum, which is exactly how power is generated in real-life activities. ๐Ÿš€

By that I meanโ€ฆ

Sometimes, we can get in a negative thought loop that does a number on how we feel physically (tired, aches and pains, etc.) โ€ฆ

Or we can feel like crud physically (like after eating a bunch of junk food), and end up in a crabby mood or feeling anxious. โ˜ฏ๏ธ

A time each year when I know I fall into this trap is the end of the financial year.

It's a hectic time for a business owner, coinciding with an equally busy time here in the dojo. There's a standing joke for anyone who knows me well:- during the last 2 weeks of the EOFY, "Don't interrupt her without bringing black chocolate".

Now, we can have a laugh about it here, but it really indicates how everything I know to do as a Coach is seriously put to the test!

Knowing I'm time-poor and tired, I sacrifice workouts when I least can afford to, my eating gets sparse, and I have to prompt myself to eat on time. When I do think about the things I should be doing to maintain balance, I tell myself it will need to wait. After a while, I noticed I felt much worse for skipping things. My stress levels rose, leaving me absolutely exhausted, and the workload felt unrelenting!โ€

Once I recognise what is happening, I make myself go for an easy walk to get the blood pumping or do a quick light workout, and I take the time out to eat lunch away from the desk, and โ€ฆ you guessed it! โ€ฆ my energy starts to return!โ€

๐™๐™–๐™ ๐™š๐™–๐™ฌ๐™–๐™ฎ: ๐™„๐™ฉโ€™๐™จ ๐™–๐™ก๐™ก ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ฃ๐™š๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™š๐™™! Next time you are caught in a loop, try taking a small step in a positive direction to help turn it around.
