It's exciting for us to announce the official opening of the new toilet block, and site works, as part of the Disability Access Upgrade Program through Cardinia Council, will take place at 4:30pm this Thursday afternoon.
Guests in attendance: Mayor Cr Brett Owen, Ward Councillor Cr David Nickell, Council Staff from Buildings and Facilities Team, COMMS Team and Sport and Recreation Team.
The Accessible toilet works were fully funded by Council through the 25/26 Disability Access upgrade Program at a cost of $180k. These upgrades have made a meaningful difference to the everyday experience of people who use the site, replacing outdated facilities with clean, reliable, and modern amenities, creating a more inclusive environment for everyone who comes through the grounds. The addition of a fully accessible toilet is especially significant. It ensures that community members of all ages and abilities, from club participants to visiting school groups, families, and spectators, can use the facilities with dignity and confidence.
The installation of an accessible carpark and a continuous, safe pathway of travel was also delivered by the Disability Access Upgrade Program This project was funded in the 2024/25 FY at $15,500 and has had a huge impact on how community members experience the site. These upgrades don’t just meet compliance standards, they remove long‑standing physical barriers that previously made it difficult for people with mobility aids, parents with prams, older residents, and visitors with temporary injuries to participate fully. By creating a clear, accessible route from arrival to activity areas, the site now feels genuinely open and inclusive to everyone.
Together with the accessible carpark, accessible toilet, ambulant toilet facilities and pathway works, these upgrades have strengthened community by removing barriers that previously limited who could comfortably attend or take part in activities. As a result, the site is now better equipped to support inclusive participation, strengthen community connections, and encourage broader involvement in local sport and recreation.
Please come down early and be a part of the celebrations.
