The Coburg U12s spent a week learning from a tough encounter last weekend. And today they showed that they can bounce back hard.
Today our Lions were hosted by a proud Merrifield team at their excellent facilities. The hosts came out firing and scored quickly, but this must have ignited a spark in our players. Coburg fired up and this flame burnt bright throughout the rest of the game.
Spectators were treated to speccies, intercept marks and thrilling passages. Coburg seared through the midfield and scored into the breeze, then capitalised further and scored with the breeze in the next quarter. Our goalkickers were Thomas C, Lenny, Angus, Tom M, Nate, Owen, Stanley, Seb, Isaac, two to Jem, and superbly one for Willow to celebrate her 50th game. Alex and Paddy added minor scores to their invaluable midfield contributions.
Intercept marks and saves by Aidan, Elias and Sasha ensured Coburg dominated the scoreboard. Darcy, Ben, Max, Freddy and George dived fearlessly into tough contest and swift transitions that fed the ball back up the field for our forwards to do their part.
The end score of Merrifield 2.1.13 to Coburg 12.11.83 was a gratification of the hard work that Coburg did throughout the week, and of the individual efforts that each and every player put in today.
