es, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and sn**ch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.

🥶 DON’T HIBERNATE THIS WINTER 🏋️‍♂️🔥

When the temperatures drop, it’s tempting to hit snooze, stay under the blankets, and put training on hold. But winter is when consistency matters most.

The members who continue to show up through the colder months are the ones who build momentum, maintain their fitness, and start spring feeling stronger, fitter, and more confident.

Training during winter can:
✅ Boost your energy levels
✅ Support your immune system
✅ Improve your mood and mental health
✅ Help maintain strength and fitness
✅ Keep you accountable and on track with your goals

At CrossFit Moreton Bay, our supportive community makes it easier to stay motivated when the mornings are dark and the weather is cold. Every session is coached, every workout is scalable, and every member is encouraged to simply show up and do their best.

Don’t wait for warmer weather to start working on your goals. Future you will be thankful that you kept moving this winter.

See you in the gym. 💪

Hey team - new coach alert!

Welcome Isi Ferrier to the CFMB coaching team!

Isi will be taking our Thursday 5am,6am and 9.15 classes starting next week. Isi has heaps of experience and will be an awesome addition to our CFMB community. (Along with her staffy Stitch 🐶)

A little bit about Isi

Isi is passionate about helping you learn new skills, make progress and have fun in the gym.
Isi has an eye for detail and loves correcting the technical side of Gymnastics and CrossFit Movements.
Isi has been coaching / personal training for 6 years in various different gyms across 3 different countries.
While completing her Degree in Exercise Science at the University of Auckland, Isi found CrossFit and a way to apply her knowledge practically. She fell in love with the community training aspect, competing in local competitions and progressing in every component of fitness.
Last year she completed the CrossFit Gymnastics Course and has grown a large niche in Personal Training for Gymnastics skills to help members progress faster and more effectively in their CrossFit Training.
When Isi is not in the gym you can find her at the beach, on adventures with her staffy (Stitch) or somewhere upside down.

Sunday 24th we will be doing our annual Murph WOD.

This WOD is really a right of passage for every Crossfitter. So make sure you come down to give it a go. It’s very satisfying when you’re finished.

Hero WODS are designed to be tough - and as with every workout you can scale to your ability.

No vest
Partition your reps
Do it with a partner
Half MURPH
Rowing instead of running

Background on MURPH WOD.

Background: In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, NY, who was killed in Afghanistan June 28, 2005.

A U.S. Navy SEAL officer, Murphy was awarded the U.S. military’s highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the War in Afghanistan. His other posthumous awards include the Silver Star Medal (which was later upgraded to the Medal of Honor) and the Purple Heart.

The “Murph” Hero WOD was originally posted on the CrossFit Main Site as the workout of the day for Thursday August 18, 2005 (“050818”), where the post said “This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it ‘Body Armor.’ From here on it will be referred to as ‘Murph’ in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.”

“Murph” has become one of the most famous CrossFit workouts, globally, especially as a tribute on U.S. Memorial Day (the last Monday of May), when the workout is sometimes referred to as “Memorial Day Murph.”

The workout, as prescribed (“Rx”), requires a weight vest but allows the athlete to partition the work as needed. In a more challenging “Rx+” version of the workout athletes choose to do the work “unpartitioned” in the order written (complete the 100 pull-ups before beginning the push-ups, etc.).

“Murph” first appeared in the 2015 CrossFit Games (athletes partitioned the work), then again in the 2016 CrossFit Games (athletes were required to do it unpartitioned).

One of our amazing members getting a shout out 💪

If you're looking for inspiration from a master of mind and fitness, Jamie is the guy to keep an eye on! 💪 🙂‍↕️

Jamie is one of our Security team who has worked at Caboolture Hospital and now at the Satellite Health Centre.

Jamie's fitness was in his words, below average, and at an age when most people's health begins to decline, he took it upon himself to turn his attitude to fitness around. The result? Entering into the Masters League competition for over 35-year-olds and being name the fittest in Queensland in the 50+ years category last year. 🏆

"I want simply to help all Metro North Health employees and the public to understand that we, Queensland Health, can be more of a positive part in people's lives with the right attitude," he said.

👏Shoutout Saturday to Jamie for his commitment to health, both personally and professionally.
