A great time was had last night at the Sets in the City Xmas party held at the Boogie Man Bar in Abbotsford. I did warn the owners that their venue would never be the same after our variety night (they usually have heavy rock bands LOL). Our members performed comedy, poetry, original songs, played guitars, organ, gu Qjn, sang, we even had a yoga performance! -- great night. Did I mention the multi-cultural cuisine? If you want Mayors Park to be managed by people who play and understand tennis, to be more environmentally friendly and save the ratepayers money, sign our petition to return management of the facility to Clifton Hill Tennis Club.

Making tennis balls even greener!

Did you know that an estimated 10 million tennis balls are purchased in Australia each year? Unfortunately, at the end of their useful lives, all of them end up either in landfills or in our waterways, eventually working their way into the ocean.

To address this environmental concern, we have partnered with Game On Recycling to collect and recycle tennis balls. From now on, you can dispose your unwanted tennis balls in the collection unit at our location.

We look forward to collecting, processing, and recycling your tennis balls!

Interested in playing pennant this year?

Clifton Hill Tennis Club is an enthusiastic participant in Tennis Victoria’s pennant competition.

The try outs are important to see if we have enough players at a similar standard that we can submit team(s) to Tennis Victoria for the competition. If you have played pennant before that is also helpful for the facilitator to know when he is putting together the teams.

Clifton Hill Tennis Club is holding a men’s try out on Sunday February 7 (11am to 1pm) to gauge interest among club members/prospective members and a women’s try out on Saturday February 13 (noon to 2pm) to gauge interest among club members/prospective members.

The two sessions will be facilitated by Allen Chen.

I am happy to pay a refundable $20 deposit which will be refunded upon attendance or providing the club with 24 hours notice of cancellation.

Early this week Tennis Victoria with Vic Sport drafted guidelines for tennis facilities to reopen from 28th September subject to DHHS and government approval.

Early last week Tennis Victoria with Vic Sport drafted guidelines for tennis facilities to reopen from 28th September subject to DHHS and government approval.

As announced by Premier Andrews yesterday, this will not happen and tennis clubs will continue be closed at least to October 19th unless we have further clarification from DHHS. This means that Mayors Park Tennis Centre will remain CLOSED for the time being.

We hope that you keep safe and look forward to seeing you all back on the court as soon as the restrictions are eased.

Clifton Hill Tennis Club was excited to celebrate our 90th Birthday on the weekend, to commemorate 90 years of community-based tennis! We were privileged to have Councillor Bridgid O'Brien as our keynote speaker to mark the occasion.
