Men's Quarter Final results just in:

Monash Men's 1 3-4 La Trobe 1
Monash Men's 2 2-3 La Trobe 2

Unfortunately that means neither Men's side will be playing for a medal this year and to make things worse they will play each other in the 4th-8th place play-off match at 2:15pm.

The SUG medal hunt is still on for the women's side who beat Deakin 4-2 earlier today are currently playing La Trobe and we hope are going to extract some revenge for the Men!

Updates to follow...

Day 3 has started well for the Monash Men's first team securing a much needed 3-0 win over UTAS 2 ensuring they finish in 4th place and set up a quarter final match with La Trobe 2.

Ironically, Monash Men's 2 is playing La Trobe 1 in their quarter final.

Both games are scheduled for 12:45pm so if you're in the area make sure you get down to Wodonga Middle Years College to cheer the boys on.

If however you're not, send your support to the boys via the page and of course stay tuned for all the updates!

The most creative message of support (on this thread) will also win a signed photo from Reuben Gill!

Day 2 at SUG saw Monash play 10 fixtures, starting with the women beating La Trobe 5-1, before facing off against undefeated Swinburne, eventually overrunning them 4-2 after the scores were 2-2 early in the second half. They then cruised to 8-0 and 9-0 victories over VU and UTAS respectively to sit comfortably at the top of their group. Tomorrow sees them face Deakin, La Trobe and Swinburne to finish off their ten game group stage.

Meanwhile, the Men's first team started with a loss against table topping RMIT, who went on to win the rest of the games, in a clinical display 7-1. They came back strong though, beating Swinburne 4-2 in the next game getting their finals chances back on track. Unfortunately, they fell just short against VU 2 losing 5-3, but still managed to retain a top 4 spot. They play their final group game tomorrow against bottom placed UTAS 2 and although they cannot finish above 4th, can garuantee progression with a win, and setup a quarterfinal game against La Trobe 1.

Meanwhile, Men's second team managed to win all three of their remaining group games to sow up 2nd spot in their group on goal difference behind La Trobe 1. This included a tense affair with VU 1 which ended 4-2, and two comeback wins against Deakin 2, 2-0 down and winning 4-2, and UTAS 1 coming back from 3-1 and 4-2 to take it out 6-5. They will play tomorrow against on the loser out of La Trobe 2 and VU 2, who play in their last group A fixture for second place.

Best of luck to all the boys and girls in their Wednesday fixtures!

An eventful day on the first day of SUG, things started well with a convincing 11-2 victory for the Men's 2 team over Chisholm, and after a slow start the first team followed suit with a comfortable 5-1 victory over Deakin 1. Things took a turn for the worse however as both teams fell to La Trobe 1 and 2, with a 5-3 loss to Monash 2 against La Trobe's first team, and 7-2 loss against their second team for Monash 1.

Both teams are still well in the hunt for a finals appearance, with many teams in each group defeating each other in tightly contested groups.

Meanwhile, the futsal women have made an early statement, winning 18-0, 7-0 and 11-2 building a resounding lead ahead of all the other women's teams. With a congested fixture list featuring 4 games tomorrow and 3 on Wednesday, they should be able to comfortably secure first place if they can keep up this phenomenal form.

Tomorrow sees them take on La Trobe and 2nd placed Swinburne in what could be a deciding match for first place before revisiting VU and UTAS to finish off Tuesday's fixtures.

Meanwhile, the Men's first team take on RMIT, VU 2 and Swinburne to work their way into a finals spot, whilst the second team take on VU 1, Deakin 2 and UTAS 1 to round off their group fixtures and likewise look for a finals berth.

Keep tuned for more updates from our SUG progress!

SUG DAY 1: The campaign begins for our 3 SUG teams in Wodonga!

The Men's 2nd team kicks us off in group B at 9:45am against Chisholm, followed by our first ever Women's team taking on VU at 10:30, and our Men's first team start at 11:15 against Deakin in group A to round off our opening round of fixtures!

The Women then play UTAS and Deakin at 1 and 3:15 respectively to round off their first day of a busy schedule of fixtures.

In the Men's group, Monash B takes on the always strong La Trobe at 12:45, while Monash A returns the favour with a game against La Trobe B at 1:30 to conclude day 1 for the Men.

Good luck to all three teams for a positive start to the campaign!

Apologies for the lack of updates and replies of late. There's been a change of management and a bit of confusion as to who does what but we're back online in preparation for this year's uni games!

Trials have already been held earlier in the semester and we are on the verge of picking our squad for SUG 2014, which will also make up the bulk of our squad going to Sydney for AUG later this year.

We are however in need of a keeper to come to this year's Southern University Games, so if there are any keepers out there that still want to put their name down for selection, please reply here or send a private message here ASAP as registrations close Friday this week.

If you know somebody else who would like to keep as well, please nominate them, as we'd hate for them to miss out! If possible, give a brief description of your past experience as a keeper as well to help us see if you fit the bill!

Apologies once again for the long silence but we'll be updating more regularly during the upcoming university games.
