Days 1 and 2 done.

Winners are grinners! Well done to everyone so far for putting it out there on the platform and more importantly having fun with it!

Also, thank you to and for having my back in one of the busiest sessions I have coached in ever.

Big shoutout to for organising such a great event and Team TG is definitely looking forward to the many more days of competition coming up!

P.S. we are also excited to see compete in his first nationals under Mon (one of our veteran masters lifters).

Big thank you to everyone back at TG showing their support and this small community we have is what keeps reminding me of why I enjoy doing what I do as a coach.

See you all in Adelaide!

The time before a comp where we all come together to support and push each other.

Testing openers and then some.

A time to see how far our training has taken us in prep for the comp.

To also catch up with fellow competitors and have plenty of fun and laughs while lifting heavy.

The heavy work is more or less done now for our TG Masters lifters heading to Adelaide. Time to taper and get ready for showtime on the platform.

One of my favourite supersets/complexes to give for someone to master the split jerk.

Working behind the neck allows better proprioception of the legs doing the work while facilitating a smoother path for the arms to go overhead.

Adding the jerk dip before helps with timing the oscillation of the bar for momentum.

Using the rhythm of achieving the momentum, more bandwidth can go into pushing the individual under well for the split.

This complex is definitely one for you to learn and properly master the intricacies of the split jerk in terms of positioning, movement and timing.

Save for your next training block focusing on the split jerk!

The sn**ch balance is one of the first progressions to teach in learning or mastering the sn**ch.

You learn this in order to fixate the bar overhead in a squat position well which over time allows you to receive heavier weight in the sn**ches.

The technical benefit of practising this regularly equates to you being committed to getting under the bar but also understanding how to resist the downward momentum with your trunk and legs.

One of the biomechanical benefits of doing this regularly is to actually teach the pelvic floor to descend under load (in simple terms, allowing you to absorb force through your trunk). This is why many struggle to get under the bar well as they are more inclined to ascend the pelvic floor (produce force or propel the trunk) rather than being able to decelerate/change direction and descend the pelvic floor well enough to get under.

So regularly add these into your warm-ups or even finish off the session with some of them if you are struggling to move under a bar in the catch fast or finding it hard to get mobility to sit under well.

Day out with the remote lifters.

Hung out with and at today.

Good to catch up face to face as we are preparing for Masters Nationals coming up in less than a month!

“From success, you learn absolutely nothing. From failure and setbacks, conclusions can be drawn.” - Niki Lauda.

Many see misses as the catalyst to a poor session or a “bad day”.

But if you see it as an opportunity to learn more about yourself, you move forward with the knowledge of how to correct it.

Treat your misses as a good thing. Because you learn where your limits lie and you get to learn how to break past them.
