New Video is up on our YouTube page.

What was supposed to be a quick session on the Derwent testing and shooting some social media for Fishmad Lure and Tackle turned into an epic bite on the Derwent River.

We were also very lucky to be graced with some curious Dolphins who wanted to get in on the action.

Managed a few hours on the Scamander River this afternoon and the only dissapointment was I couldn't have fished it all day. Absolute love a minnow bite and the Bream came to the party with plenty of good fish smashing lures along the edges, but what fish can refuse a Cranka Lures?

A timely memory popped up today. 12 years ago there were plentiful Flathead of both size and number to be caught in the local southern fishery. Today you struggle to catch 1 or 2 size fish and with the proposed changes Flathead will no longer be worth pursuing for table fish.

We've also seen our favourite dive spots become barren of Abalone, Crayfish and most sea life.

So what has changed in the last decade? I'm yet to see any convincing science that recreational over-fishing is the cause.

But we have seen first hand a change in the underwater environment so what has bought about that change? Is it climate change or pollution, particularly marine pollution given marine industry now dominates almost all our southern waterways now.

Our new Video is up and it's a banger or slaps, or whatever the cool kids say these days.

Anyway we catch some Kingfish from the Kayak and get our arms stretch by some incredible fighting fish.

Finally decided to put in a proper effort to catch a Kingfish which paid off big time in North West Bay today.
Surprisingly we landed all four fish we hooked on a $55 Abu Garcia combo we picked up from a big box retailer yesterday.
Can certainly confirm these fish fight hard and have to be pound for pound the best fighting species we've caught so far.

Despite a rainy and miserable morning we ventured out to our favourite Bream spot Browns River to test out some new artificial mussel lures from Fishmad Lure and Tackle.

Despite my trepidation these lure actual work and work really well snaring half a dozen big bream despite the rain and clean water. Pretty impressive for handmade lures made right here in Tasmania

We've even got a couple to give away and will post up the details of how to win them tomorrow. But if you can't wait check out their Facebook and Web pages or even grab a few off ebay if you're that way inclined.

Absolutely love fishing the colder months. Dirty water and pre-spawn Bream in small rivers is addictive.
Managed 10 fish in 3.5 hours with all of them over 30cm and the biggest going 40ttf
All but 1 fish fell to the Cranka Lures Olive crab.
