Tonightโs matches at The Paddock were full of drama, excitement and hard fought battles ๐ฅ
Our Division 3 Men almost pulled off the impossible but the Swans were too strong, losing 6-1. A horrible first half an hour saw our Rams reduced to 9 men with 2 red cards, and conceding their first shortly after. A comeback was on the cards after a SUFC โkeeper error saw Jackson Chin curl one in from about 30 yards out to level the scores with 20 to go, but Sale piled on the pressure and goals to comfortably take the win.
The Senior Women flexed their muscles but survived a strong fight back, winning 4-2. A returning Mary Corponi opened the scoring, bagging two goals in an 8-minute span before Amaya Sande put the third past the Sale โkeeper just before half time. A comfortable and deserving lead was added to as Sande scored her second, before Sale put our Ramettes on notice with two goals to start their come back. Fortunately for our Women, the Swans ran outta regular time and our Ramettes took all 3 points.
The Reserves Men fixture was washed out, with the referees deeming the ground unplayable at the time. The fixture will be played at a later date in the assigned catch up rounds.
Our Senior Men battled in tough conditions but prevailed, winning 1-0. As the quality of the pitch made the game difficult, both teams could not gain an advantage with chances going begging at both ends. It was a scrappy battle as our Rams tried to find a goal and claim the lead, with the Swans putting up a challenge and needing a result to move their way up the ladder. Cometh the man, cometh the moment as Jacob Cheney made the Cheney name proud with a clinical turn and finish to break SUFCโs hearts and secure the W for our Rams.
