🏆GRAND FINAL RESULTS | WOMEN’S🏆

Traralgon Rovers Defeated Churchill 5-0

The Women’s Grand Final delivered a great contest, with Traralgon Rovers securing the premiership with a 5–0 victory over Churchill.

Rovers entered the finals campaign as minor premiers after finishing top of the ladder, and continued their strong season to claim the Grand Final win and complete an impressive three-peat.🥇🥇🥇

Churchill’s young side put up a strong fight against the experienced Rovers outfit, creating multiple quick turnovers and putting plenty of pressure on throughout the match. They came close to finding the back of the net on several occasions and showed great determination right through to the final whistle.

A standout performance from Lucy, who scored three of Rovers goals throughout the game which played a major role in Rovers’ Grand Final victory.

🔥🏑PRELIMINARY FINAL | MEN’S LV REP TEAM🏑🔥

Mitchell River Defeated Latrobe Valley 4-1

And just like that, our 2026 finals campaign comes to an end.

It wasn’t the result we wanted, but the boys fought until the very last whistle, battling through tough weather conditions at Sale Hockey Ground and refusing to give up.

While today wasn’t our day, there is so much to be proud of.

This was a brand-new team, bringing together players with different levels of experience, backgrounds and skill — and together they created something special. They stepped onto the field each week representing the Latrobe Valley Hockey Association, and they did it with pride, determination and plenty of heart.

From the first game to the final whistle, this group continued to grow, learn and compete. 💪🏻

Congratulations to every player, coach, manager and supporter who was part of the journey. You should all be incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved in your first season together.

A huge thank you to East Gippsland Hockey Association for welcoming us into the competition and giving our boys the opportunity to compete, develop and be part of something new. We truly appreciate it.

Today may be the end of the 2026 season, but it’s certainly not the end of this team.

We’ll take the lessons, the experience and the memories into the off-season…

And we’ll be back in 2027 ready to see just what this group can bring. 🔥

This Saturday, our Latrobe Valley take on Mitchell River in a massive Preliminary Final, with a place in the Grand Final up for grabs.

There’s no tomorrow, no second chances — win and we’re in. 💪🏻

Expect a hard-fought battle from the opening whistle, with both teams leaving everything on the turf. Now is the time for our boys to dig deep, back themselves and play for each other.

🏆GRAND FINAL RESULTS | MEN’S HOCKEY 5s🏆

Churchill Black Defeated Churchill Blue 19-6

The Grand Final was an absolute goal-fest, a fast, physical and fiercely contested battle between two sides who know each other very well.

Churchill Black came out firing and never let the intensity drop. Their attacking pressure was relentless, finding the back of the net time and time again while continuing to work hard defensively. They finished the night with a huge 19–6 victory, securing the Premiership!

Congratulations to Churchill Black — a fantastic Grand Final performance and well-deserved Premiers! 🏆🖤

Commiserations to Churchill Blue, who can hold their heads high after an outstanding season. Finishing Minor Premiers and making it all the way to the Grand Final is a fantastic achievement. 💙

And what an achievement for Churchill Hockey Club — two teams in the competition, both making the finals and ultimately facing each other for the Premiership. You couldn’t ask for a better result for the club, with the Grand Final trophy guaranteed to stay in Churchill!

⭐ PLAYER OF THE MATCH | MATHEW WELLS ⭐

A consistently strong performer at both ends of the field, Mathew was instrumental in the victory. Strong in defence, dangerous in attack and leading by example, the Churchill Black captain played a huge role in guiding his team to Grand Final glory.

🏆🔥 GRAND FINAL WEEK HAS ARRIVED! 🔥🏆

The season has come down to this… two massive Grand Finals, four teams, and everything to play for!

First up, the Men’s Hockey 5s will see an all-Churchill battle as Churchill Blue take on Churchill Black. These two sides know each other well, having gone head-to-head throughout the season. There won’t be many secrets between them, and with a premiership on the line, expect plenty of intensity, fast paced action and determination from the opening whistle. 🏑🔥

Then it’s time for the Women’s Grand Final, where Rovers take on Churchill.
Rovers have been the team to beat all season, finishing top of the ladder and earning the minor premiership.
But finals hockey is a different beast… and Churchill enter as the underdogs.
They’ve fought their way through the finals and now have the ultimate opportunity to cause an upset and take the premiership away from the ladder leaders. 🏑🔥

One thing is guaranteed — it’s going to be a Grand Final week worth watching!

⭐️SEMI FINAL RESULTS | WOMEN’S VIC LEAGUE 3⭐️

Croydon Ranges defeated Gippsland Elite 3–1

The girls travelled down to Knox Hockey Field on a beautiful sunny day, ready to give it everything in their semi final. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t our day, bringing our finals campaign to an end. 💛🖤

But what a season it has been! 👏🏻

We are incredibly proud of our newly merged Women’s Vic League team, bringing together players from Latrobe Valley Hockey Association and West Gippsland Strikers.
To come together and make finals in their first season is a fantastic achievement.

We can’t wait to see what next year brings for Gippsland Elite. 🔥

Churchill and Traralgon couldn’t be separated at full time, finishing 1–1 and sending the game into an exciting penalty shoot-out.

Churchill held their nerve to take the win 2–1 (SO) and secure their spot in the Grand Final. Well done Churchill!!!

🔥SEMI FINAL RESULTS | MEN’S LV REP TEAM🔥

What a game! Latrobe Valley have fought their way into the next stage after a hard-fought 4–3 victory over Wellington.

It was a close game from start to finish, but the Wolves lifted when it mattered most. They fought for each other, battled right until the final whistle and showed exactly what it means to wear the Latrobe Valley colours. 🖤❤️🧡💛

🏆 A huge congratulations to Gael Greenway, who has been named runner-up in the East Gippsland Men’s Open Best & Fairest.

Gael has represented Latrobe Valley with commitment, pride and plenty of hard work throughout the season, and to be recognised among the best players in the East competition is a fantastic individual achievement.

💜 REMEMBERING CHARLIE MARTIN

Before the mens game last night at Bairnsdale, a minute’s silence was held to acknowledge Charlie Martin, who sadly passed away late last week.

Charlie was a Hockey Victoria Life Member and was well known to us through his work organising the Country Week Championship round. He was a great supporter and friend of Latrobe Valley Hockey Association, always placing country hockey at the forefront.

Charlie will be remembered for his smile, his humour, his fairness and the genuine passion he had for country hockey.

Our thoughts are with Charlie’s family, friends and the wider hockey community during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Charlie. 💜

Hockey Victoria is greatly saddened to hear of the recent passing of Charlie Martin late last week. Charlie was a HV Life Member inducted in 2019. HV would like to express our deepest condolences to Charlie’s family and friends at this very sad time.
