After a week off for the long weekend, footy returns to Ironbank Oval this Saturday as we take on Reynella.

All three grades are back in action and ready to hit the ground running as we look to build some momentum heading into the middle part of the season.

Congratulations to Ben De Kievit, Jake Pokoina and Luke Watson on representing the Southern Football League in Saturday’s Association clash.

The boys put in a terrific effort against a strong Great Southern Football League outfit, with the Southerns going down by just two goals in a hard-fought contest.

A special mention to Jake on earning Second Best honours. A fantastic achievement and a great reward for his outstanding season so far.

Well done lads – a great representation of both the league and the Thunderers! ⚡💚💛

The Football Club would like to thank the Cherry Gardens Association who produce the local magazine "The Cherry Chatter" for their ongoing support. Each season they support our club and regularly contribute to equipment and events for the recreation ground. Our President Don Watton and Secretary Kerry Hughes extend their volunteering to the production of the Cherry Chatter and the district is lucky to have such tireless volunteers.

From the June edition in 1992 the Cherry Chatter has always been full of interesting goings on within the district and has given locals the opportunity to keep in touch, be a sounding board on important issues when needed, an advertiser for local businesses and for functions and as the Cherry Chatter grew they have been able to organise community activities and events such as the ANZAC Day services and the Christmas BBQ at the Rec Ground and importantly support other community organisations and clubs with donations for important infrastructure and needs.

The committee publish 11 Cherry Chatter editions per year and distributes them to around 350 households.

ROUND EIGHT RESULTS ⚡️

A tough weekend out vs Cove Cobras. Here’s how we did:

A Grade:
Unfortunately the A grade lads slipped back into some bad habits on the weekend and were convincingly beaten in most facets of the game. This was marked as a significant opportunity to set ourselves up for finals footy but it was not meant to be. As a team we let ourselves down with accountability and being first to the footy. Ups and down are expected this year with such a young group so keep supporting the club in any which way you can.

Some great feedback, we will come back stronger 💪🏻
