Final day Ginninderra Athletics report from the Australian Junior Athletics Championships.
Today's headline performances came from Elijah Wilson, who backed up his win in the discus to take out the U20 men's 6kg shot put with a throw of 18.04 (Season Best), and Elsie Hamilton who ran a time of 2:10.06SB to place 3rd in the U15 girls 800m. Elsie's time was less than 1 second behind the winner who ran a championship record time.

In the U15 girls 3kg hammer throw, Scarlett Rolfe threw a PB of 32.05 to finish 14th, only 3 months after throwing the hammer for the first time.

In the under 16 boys 4kg hammer throw, Xavier Felix who has been throwing over 50m in training, which would have placed 3rd, unfortunately wasn't able to land any of his attempts. Keep up the effort Xavier. Your efforts will pay off soon.

Addi Hart ran 10:19.49 to record a PB and finish 13th overall in the U16 3000m. She was second in her heat and there were 39 runners overall.

U18 hurdles champion, Aisha Shave, backed up to compete in the U20 Women's 100mH (83.8cm high). She finished 6th in the final in 14.27 (only 0.11 seconds off the bronze medal).

In one of the final events of the championships, Tobi Drummond-Templeton finished an excellent 5th in the Men's U20 200m final in 21.48.

Congratulations to all the Ginninderra Athletes who have competed in these championships, the Australian Athletics Championships and ALAC in the past two weeks. You should be super proud of your efforts.

Day 5 wrap from the Australian Junior Championships Championships.
Today's headline story is Elijah Wilson's magnificent performance in the U20 Men's 1.75kg discus. Elijah claimed Gold with a massive throw of 59.63m which is a World U20 Qualifier. Elijah competes again tomorrow in the 6kg shot put.
Max Greenhalgh gave it everything in the U15 boys 200m to finish 8th in his heat and 24th overall.
Tobi Drummond-Templeton was back doing what he does best to qualify 3rd for the next round of the U20 men's 200m in 21.52w.
The girls U15 800m heats had me glued to the TV. Elsie Hamilton backed up from her 1500m triumph to win her heat in 2.12.93 and qualify 2nd fastest for the final. In the same heat, Alice Liddell-Kirkwood put together a fantastic race and was on track to also qualify for the final and smash her PB. Alice was clipped from behind in the final strides and fell just short of the line. She managed to finish 17th in 2.17.53 which was still a PB. Alice should take a lot out of this race as she was right up there with best 800m runners in Australia.
The Championships conclude tomorrow. Elijah (shot put), Elsie (800m), Tobi (200m), Aisha Shave (U20 100mH) and Addi Hart (3000m) are back in action. Xavier Felix and Scarlett Rolfe finally get their chance to compete in the hammer throw.

Day 4 wrap of Australian Junior Athletics Championships.
Today's huge highlight was from gun middle distance runner, Elsie Hamilton who managed to win an ultra competitive girls U15 1500m in 4:25.29. The top 4 athletes finished within 1 second of each other. Well done Elsie on your incredible performance.
Addi Hart had a fantastic race in the U16 girls 1500m. The field was so big they had to split into two. Addi was 3rd in her race in a PB of 4:44.05 and 14th overall.
Things didn't quite go to plan for gun sprinter Tobias Drummond-Templeton in the U20 100m semi final. He finished 9th in his heat and 27th in 11.25. All the best for the 200m, Tobi.
There are still two days to go, and many Ginninderra Athletes in action. We wish you all the very best.
