Elijah wasn't quite able to replicate his massive PB throw from the qualification round in the discus final and finished in 13th. It is a magnificent achievement to make the final at his first World Championships. We are so proud of Owen and Elijah's achievements on the world stage. Here are some photos with Elijah and Owen repping their Ginninderra Athletics shirts, and Elijah's coach Rowan Vergano, who was a Ginninderra junior back in the day and I think still holds some club records.

Elijah Wilson is in action in the discus final tomorrow morning at 5am. There is only 3 metres separating all the finalists so it should be a very exciting and close competition. We wish you all the best.

The final day of the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships is upon us, with 16 Australians ready to battle across seven finals in the closing session in Oregon.

Our Ginninderra Athletes had to wait until day 4 for their events at the World Athletics U20 Championships. Owen Toyne finished in a fantastic 17th place in the 5000m Walk. In the discus, Elijah Wilson threw a PB to qualify automatically for the final. This is an outstanding achievement. All the best Elijah in tomorrow's final.

It was a day and night of medals, records and personal bests for Australia at the World Athletics Championships Eugene, USA at the famous Hayward Field. Isaac Beacroft (NSW, David Beacroft) won the gold medal in the 5km race walk, just over a week after he won Commonwealth gold in Glasgow. Beacroft....

The club shed at Charnwood will be open today between 5 and 6pm if anyone needs to purchase or collect uniform before high noon on Sunday. This was emailed earlier in the week.
Bib numbers will be available to collect at high noon during registration.

Congratulations to Ginninderra Athletes Leo, August, Elsie, Alice, Jemimah, Flynn, Addy, Riley and Kodi on your selection.

Congratulations to the following 59 ACT athletes who have been selected to represent Team ACT at the 2026 Australian Athletics Cross Country Championships in Ballarat at the end of August.

These athletes will take on the renowned Ballarat cross country course, where they'll no doubt encounter plenty of mud, challenging obstacles and the thrill of competing against the nation's best distance runners.

We congratulate every athlete on their selection and wish them all the very best as they proudly represent the ACT. Good luck, Team ACT!

Tonight was the Capital Athletics awards presentation.
Ginninderra Athletics was recognised as Club of the Year. This acknowledges all the hard work of the committee and other volunteers in growing the club and supporting a range of Capital Athletics initiatives, as well as the performances of our athletes.
Several Ginninderra Athletes were also recognised.
Aisha Shave won and Elsie Hamilton was a finalist in Junior Female Athlete of the Year.
Owen Toyne and Elijah Wilson were finalists in Senior Male Athlete of the Year.
Macie Wilson was a finalist in Junior Female Para Athlete of the Year.
In the volunteer categories, Geoff Bartley was recognised for 10 years service as an official and Gary Rolfe was a finalist in the Administrator of the Year.
