Home security captures “phantom” basketballer in residential backyard.

On Tuesday evening local homeowners were shocked to find that a sound alert from a backyard security system was more just the noisy kids next door.

Upon closer inspection the residents discovered they had an “ape” sounding phantom basketballer running a play in their backyard. They said they had not seen the spectre before, but have been aware of strange paranormal activity around the property ever since they moved in. “Finally we’ve got something conclusive” said the homeowner when asked about the perplexing clip.

The relation this particular entity has to either the house or to basketball is unconfirmed but paranormal researchers have made connections to Chadstone frogs superstar, Daniel Owies. “He shows up every now and then… and he is known to have a very white complexion” says researcher Clark Kent.

The clip might explain the sudden rise of stolen basketball related property in the Chadstone area but police are sceptical that there is any relation between the two.

Residents of the area have been urged by authorities to monitor security footage and flag any suspicious activity.

Chadstone Frogs superstar Daniel 'can "dunk"' Owies has recently been spotted playing a 'casual' round of golf in the Victorian Championship. A great accomplishment for a man with a broken finger.

On the 18th hole, Owies "did a number" sinking a brilliant pitch in to secure -5 for the round. An astonishing score given his track record of coming second.

In an astonishing turn of events, Chadstone Frogs self appointed skipper Josh “jump ball” Wilson pleads guilty to “leaving some gas in the tank” despite dropping a whopping 39 points last Wednesday.

The team captain said that he thought hitting 50 by himself would be a bit “selfish” and could result in “too big of a margin” going into the final grading game of the season.

This year The Chadstone Frogs are looking stronger than ever in their campaign for the all too allusive “granny” title.

“We look forward to overcoming any challenges that arise this season. I don’t want to toot our own horn but HONK, we’re shaping up quite alright”, said Wilson post game.

NEWS EXCLUSIVE

Frogs Captain Josh “the money man” Wilson narrowly escapes B-Double truck collision.

Over the weekend Chadstone Frogs skipper, J. Wilson and an unnamed passenger fled his vehicle after being hit by a truck. Luckily both people sustained no injury and walked away from the carnage.

“He was flying the wrong way around a one-way corner”, recounted the captain. “The car was worse for wear; however, I’m just pleased I got away with my life”.

The accident was said to have been outside a country town shopping centre pre lockdown at approximately 2.30 in the afternoon as Josh and his passenger were coming home from a leisurely round of golf.

When approached, the driver of the truck made no comment.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Though we have been lacking on the reports of games lately it has not meant we no longer exist, in fact the opposite. The reality is that there is a great commitment to employment and studies.
We are thriving at the Chadstone Frogs securing the minor premiership with 5 games to go in the home and away season. This meant that we were guaranteed a home final going into the first semi, played last night.

The game begun with already heightened stakes as it was delayed by 20 minutes with a previous game going into double over time, setting the stage (blessed court 3) as a place that would see legends be made in the Frogs V Sonics First semi-final. After having played the sonics the previous week in the final home and away game of the season, we knew we were in for a challenge. Nothing that could overthrow the finest frogs outfit to ever grace the earth’s crust.

The game began in red hot fashion with one frog making a remark that “they [had] come to play”. The intensity, whilst a shock to some of the less fit frogs, was matched and bettered by our mob of frogs. The game was tight and low scoring with some very questionable referee decisions made sending supporters and players alike into outrage, so much so that a smartass comment from Dan “AUS” Owies got him sent off for the remainder of the game.

Fergus “red hot from three” consolidated his nickname by sinking a three so beautiful it makes paradise on earth look mediocre. Ferg’s, mad intensity at the ball saw steal after steal resulting in basket after basket helping the frogs get across the line. Fergus has been considered for the best 3-point accuracy in the world. FANTASTIC game from the new recruit, his efforts are to be recreated in next weeks Grand final.

Tommy “where did he come from” Miller was flying around the court quicker than a turbocharged mosquito and making the most of it. One particular play I only remember as a blur. This is how it went… The ball was at the sonics end. The ball was in tommy’s hands. The ball was in the basket. Two points, T. Miller. T Mills has proved himself as the team tagger, who has his work cut out for him this week as he is set to take on a master of the game. We at the frogs have no doubt that he will handle the situation as smoothly as a freshly oiled bowling ball.

Somer “driving range” Young played another beautiful game this week with some moves that left spectators feeling “mind boggled” at his raw talent. Following a night at the driving range that left something in pieces, it is a miracle that Somer was able to play as well as he did. Some perfect assists meant that Somer’s game play style assisted in getting the frogs over the line and is going to be a vital part in winning nest weeks Granny.

Dan “242” Owies again played another game worthy of watching live on TV. One most memorable moment was a three quarter court pass to a lead in JDUB that was too good that it hit the inside of the ring. This was a moment in the game that caused the ground to shake with the sound of everyone’s jaws hitting the floor. Owies has been missed over the last couple of games but will be a sure in for the grand final giving us the best possible chance at obtaining gold.

Joey “dynamite” Yugumbari also played another brilliant game this week. It has to be marvelled at the way this man takes on the game. He is one of the smaller bodies on the court but he certainly makes up for that with his exceptional skills and movement. Joey knows exactly what to do and when which, honestly, is truly spectacular to watch. Joey is also going to be an exceptionally vital to the game next week.

Xander “bog” Arbuthnot maintained his all time greatness this week coming of a massive setback in the finger injury department that had him out for last weeks clash against the same team. Candy was big in the air and everywhere claiming rebounds and intercepting the most dangerous inbound passes. Xandy will bring his A game to the granny which will no doubt see twirls that are out of this world, something that can’t be missed.

Joshy “SELF APPOINTED captain” Wilson was again seen as a hero of the game. It goes without saying that whilst josh is self-appointed as captain of the squad, he deserves the role. He works as a mentor to train and inform the less experienced players of rules of the game that they need to know. Josh ran the backline this week after giving himself a break last week. It has to be noted that he is very useful in getting BOARDS on both offence and defence. This style of play will again be vital to winning next week as we come up against a very tall side.

Last season saw our frog squad take silver in the grand final. With that in mind the boys are more hungry than ever for gold. This is going to be a game to watch and you will get some serious FOMO if you’re not there. Next weeks game is at 9.00pm on court 2 on Wednesday the 18th at Waverly stadium. All support is massively appreciated and does not go unnoticed so get down. It is also Josh and Joe’s birthday on the same day, so win or lose we have something to celebrate. Get down and make their day extra special by showing your face at the game. See you then.

Frog to infinity and beyond xx 🐸

Last week your beloved frogs once again found themselves on the hallowed Waverley turf/court and being the main event the frogs dished up a performance that left the opposition Beavers saying Dam...

With all-star frog T-Mill suffering from injuries following his relentless attack on the ball across all sports, the frogs once again found themselves not at full strength. However, one man who was certainly firing on all frog-like cylinders was Xander ‘Ikea Tower’ Arbuthnot. The notorious Arb begun the game on an intimidating note, nailing a deep 3 and sending a message to the opposition that there is no role this man couldn’t fill. However, luckily for the opposition, it seems that the universe balanced out, delivering a game-ending injury early in the game and preventing what could’ve been a seriously landmark game. The extent of the injury is unknown, with reports saying he was seeing mcdouble post-game.

Another man who continues to find form, mirroring his beloved lions, is Fergy ‘100%’ Brittain. Being possibly the most efficient man to set foot on a basketball court, Ferg found himself nailing his one and only three, begging the truly frightening question, what would the score be like if he decided to have a little me-time. His ability to prevent any human life from entering his defensive zone proved pivotal in the frogs getting out to an early lead in the first half. The ability of this frog to deliver and look seriously good while doing it is truly unreal and is something that proves elusive to the rest of the competition.

The unwavering dominance of the frogs during the first half can also be attributed to the hustle of Joey ‘FA Cup’ Yugumbari. Riding the emotional high of ‘ankle-breaking’ the lovely Ellen pre-game, this big unit did nothing short of run for his life all game. This ability to continually disregard human life and crossover his loved-ones truly underlines Joey’s devotion to the frog cause. In all honesty, his ability to find gaps in the defence where there physically doesn’t seem to be, continues to wow all onlookers and cement his position on the scoreboard, finishing with a scrumptious 13 points.

Someone else who can be seen to be establishing a close relationship with the scoreboard is Joshy ‘NASA’ Wilson, whose ability to do great things in space, especially outside the arc, keeps the scoreboard ticking over. With a technique that is slicker than a bowl of oatmeal I can see why the opposition continues to simply watch him do his thing, rather than attempt to cover the versatile gazelle that he is. Overall the stunning scoreline of 12 points, alongside a clean 0 fouls, has become nothing short of a weekly occurrence for the Froglow medalist.

As a result, the frogs continued to cruise through the second half, never letting the opposition get within firing range. This defensive hustle and intimidation can be owed to Dan ‘Specky Mcgee’ Durham. It is rumoured that this man only touched the ground a handful of times throughout the game, soaring through the air somewhat gracefully and preventing the opposition from sticking to their normal game plan. One beaver that was not so quick to adjust copped nothing short of the full brunt of this almighty unit. With this action Daniel single-handedly changed the food chain forever, placing the beaver firmly in the prey position of the frog.

Supporting this change was Dan ‘Biff’ Owies, whose ability to arrive on the scene at the first sign of tension is nothing short of scary and admirable. I’m running out of words to say about this man and I’m sure Helen is running out of storage on her computer adding to his seemingly endless highlight reel. Thinking a good 17 steps ahead of the opposition at all times, Owies continued to deliver passes even his teammates couldn’t see coming, working his way to a formidable 14 points despite playing a very selfless and team-lifting brand of basketball.

Final Score: Frogs 48- 28 Beavers

Finally, big thanks to all those who make their way to the Wednesday night showdowns, the players feed off the crowd energy and really appreciate the ongoing support! 💚💚💚
