Last week your beloved frogs once again found themselves on the hallowed Waverley turf/court and being the main event the frogs dished up a performance that left the opposition Beavers saying Dam...
With all-star frog T-Mill suffering from injuries following his relentless attack on the ball across all sports, the frogs once again found themselves not at full strength. However, one man who was certainly firing on all frog-like cylinders was Xander ‘Ikea Tower’ Arbuthnot. The notorious Arb begun the game on an intimidating note, nailing a deep 3 and sending a message to the opposition that there is no role this man couldn’t fill. However, luckily for the opposition, it seems that the universe balanced out, delivering a game-ending injury early in the game and preventing what could’ve been a seriously landmark game. The extent of the injury is unknown, with reports saying he was seeing mcdouble post-game.
Another man who continues to find form, mirroring his beloved lions, is Fergy ‘100%’ Brittain. Being possibly the most efficient man to set foot on a basketball court, Ferg found himself nailing his one and only three, begging the truly frightening question, what would the score be like if he decided to have a little me-time. His ability to prevent any human life from entering his defensive zone proved pivotal in the frogs getting out to an early lead in the first half. The ability of this frog to deliver and look seriously good while doing it is truly unreal and is something that proves elusive to the rest of the competition.
The unwavering dominance of the frogs during the first half can also be attributed to the hustle of Joey ‘FA Cup’ Yugumbari. Riding the emotional high of ‘ankle-breaking’ the lovely Ellen pre-game, this big unit did nothing short of run for his life all game. This ability to continually disregard human life and crossover his loved-ones truly underlines Joey’s devotion to the frog cause. In all honesty, his ability to find gaps in the defence where there physically doesn’t seem to be, continues to wow all onlookers and cement his position on the scoreboard, finishing with a scrumptious 13 points.
Someone else who can be seen to be establishing a close relationship with the scoreboard is Joshy ‘NASA’ Wilson, whose ability to do great things in space, especially outside the arc, keeps the scoreboard ticking over. With a technique that is slicker than a bowl of oatmeal I can see why the opposition continues to simply watch him do his thing, rather than attempt to cover the versatile gazelle that he is. Overall the stunning scoreline of 12 points, alongside a clean 0 fouls, has become nothing short of a weekly occurrence for the Froglow medalist.
As a result, the frogs continued to cruise through the second half, never letting the opposition get within firing range. This defensive hustle and intimidation can be owed to Dan ‘Specky Mcgee’ Durham. It is rumoured that this man only touched the ground a handful of times throughout the game, soaring through the air somewhat gracefully and preventing the opposition from sticking to their normal game plan. One beaver that was not so quick to adjust copped nothing short of the full brunt of this almighty unit. With this action Daniel single-handedly changed the food chain forever, placing the beaver firmly in the prey position of the frog.
Supporting this change was Dan ‘Biff’ Owies, whose ability to arrive on the scene at the first sign of tension is nothing short of scary and admirable. I’m running out of words to say about this man and I’m sure Helen is running out of storage on her computer adding to his seemingly endless highlight reel. Thinking a good 17 steps ahead of the opposition at all times, Owies continued to deliver passes even his teammates couldn’t see coming, working his way to a formidable 14 points despite playing a very selfless and team-lifting brand of basketball.
Final Score: Frogs 48- 28 Beavers
Finally, big thanks to all those who make their way to the Wednesday night showdowns, the players feed off the crowd energy and really appreciate the ongoing support! 💚💚💚
