⛳ Hole 2 at Oakleigh Golf Course.

Simple on Paper, Challenging in Reality!

The second hole at Oakleigh Golf Course is a great reminder that golf isn't always about power it's about precision.

A well placed tee shot sets up your approach, but miss your target and you'll quickly find yourself scrambling to save par. The key is staying committed to your shot and focusing on position rather than distance.

For many golfers, Hole 2 is where the round really begins. It tests your course management, rewards smart decisions, and can build confidence early if played correctly.

🏌️‍♂️ Our tip: Pick a clear target, trust your swing, and don't let an early mistake affect the rest of your round.

⛳ Are You Wearing the Right Golf Shoes?

When golfers think about improving their game, they often focus on clubs, lessons, or practice. But one of the most overlooked pieces of equipment is what's on your feet.

The right golf shoes can make a huge difference by providing:

✅ Better stability throughout your swing
✅ Improved traction on wet or uneven surfaces
✅ Greater comfort during a 4+ hour round
✅ Reduced fatigue, helping you stay focused until the final hole

When choosing golf shoes, consider comfort first, followed by fit, support, and the conditions you usually play in. A shoe that feels great in the shop should feel even better after 18 holes.

Whether you prefer spiked or spikeless, the best golf shoe is the one that helps you feel balanced, confident, and comfortable on every shot.

🏌️‍♂️ What's your go to golf shoe brand? Let us know in the comments!

⛳ Hole 1 at Oakleigh Golf Course: A Great Start for Beginners!

Hole 1 is the perfect introduction to your round at Oakleigh Golf Course. For beginner golfers, the key here is keeping it simple and stress free.

🏌️‍♀️ Off the tee: Choose a club you’re confident with, there’s no need to go full power. A smooth, controlled swing aimed for the middle of the fairway will set you up nicely.

🎯 Your approach: Focus on advancing the ball safely rather than chasing distance. Staying clear of trouble is more important than reaching the green in one.

🟢 Around the green: Take your time, trust your short game, and enjoy easing into the round.

Hole 1 is all about building confidence and finding your rhythm, play smart, play relaxed, and let your round unfold from there.

Golf is a game built on integrity, respect, and consideration for others. While skill and strategy are important, proper etiquette is what truly defines the experience on the course! 🌟

Here are a few key reminders that keep the game enjoyable for everyone:

- Respect Concentration: Remain still and quiet when others are preparing to hit. Small distractions can have a big impact.
- Maintain Pace of Play: Be ready for your turn, limit unnecessary delays, and keep up with the group ahead. Efficient play ensures everyone enjoys their round.

⛳️ Care for the Course:

- Repair ball marks, replace or fill divots, and rake bunkers after use. Taking care of the course preserves its condition for all players.
- Practice Safety and Awareness: Be mindful of your surroundings and the position of others before taking a swing.
- Demonstrate Sportsmanship: Golf is rooted in honesty and respect. Adhering to the rules and showing courtesy reflects well on both you and the game.

👏 Strong etiquette enhances the pace, atmosphere, and overall enjoyment of every round. When players uphold these standards, the game is better for everyone involved!

GOLF TIP TUESDAYS! ⛳️

Tee height might seem like a small detail, but when you’re hitting driver, it can make a big difference to your launch, distance, and consistency. If you want to maximise performance off the tee, here’s a simple way to measure it correctly:

1️⃣ The Basic Rule:
When the ball is teed up and your driver is resting on the ground behind it, roughly half of the golf ball should sit above the top edge of the driver face. Why This Works? Teeing the ball higher encourages an upward strike, which helps:
- Increase launch angle
- Reduce excess backspin
- Maximise carry distance

Tee it too low and you’re more likely to hit down on the ball, producing low drives with too much spin. Tee it too high and you risk sky marks or inconsistent contact!

2️⃣ A Simple Check:
Before you swing, glance at the ball from face-on:
- Can you see the top half clearly above the driver crown?
- Is the ball positioned opposite your lead heel?

Small adjustments in tee height can create noticeable changes in ball flight. If you’re struggling with low bullets or inconsistent contact, this is one of the easiest fundamentals to review.

Sometimes it’s not a swing change you need, it’s just a better setup! 😉

Deepening our connection to Country and community during National Reconciliation Week. 🖤💛❤️

During Reconciliation Week, we had the privilege of attending the Monash City Council Celebrating Country and Culture National Reconciliation Week opening event, centred around this year’s theme, “All In.”

The morning was filled with meaningful connection, learning, and reflection. It began with a powerful Welcome to Country, followed by traditional Indigenous dancing led by Stacie, a proud Wurundjeri, Dja Dja Wurrung, and Ngurai Illum Wurrung woman.

Dancing since the age of 10 and a member of Djirri Djirri since 2017, Stacie generously shared the cultural significance behind each dance, making the experience incredibly moving. We also had the honour of participating in a beautiful weaving session with Aunty Marilyn Duff.

It was wonderful to connect with local community members and organisations who are equally committed to strengthening understanding, inclusion, and reconciliation.

Thank you to Monash City Council and everyone involved for creating such a welcoming, inspiring, and impactful event.
