The Crocs will be taking a break this summer.

A myriad of life happenings has impacted player availability, which combined with increased work obligations for our small committee, meant it wasnt practical to committ fielding a team this season.

We'd like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who's been involved and supported the Crocs. It was a cracking 4 seasons filled with Cricket & many Good Times and we hope to return again one day in the future.

🏏🏏🏏 CRICKET FANS 🏏 🏏🏏

There has been a slight oversight by the Tweed Shire District Council and they've failed to add Cricket Facilties to planning for the new Sports Precinct at Depot Rd, Kings Forrest.

If you are a fan of Cricket and the sport that truly unites Australia every summer, and believe there should be facilities at Depot Rd for future generations of Cricketers, please enter a submission through the link below. Submissions close at midnight tomorrow and only take a couple of minutes (7/5/25). Thank you 🏏

After Cyclone Alfred removed any chance of a late run at finals, the Crocs season recently ended with a 4 wicket loss to Cudgen. Batting first, the lads scored 159 and fought hard till the end, but Cudgen were to good and claimed a 4 wicket win & 2nd spot for finals 🀝

Our first season in the Far North Coast 2nd Grade comp finished with 6 wins, 9 losses, 6 washouts. After the success of the first 3 seasons, it's been somewhat humbling for the Crocs to be on the other side of results (some heavy results too πŸ«£πŸ˜…). However sometimes you're the hammer, and sometimes you're the nail, and it was still a highly enjoyable season with immense learning about playing on turf, and many great Saturday afternoons bantering & bbq'ing across the boundary 🌭🍻

We'd like to share our sincere thanks and gratitude to our local sponosors whose support we could not do without.

We appreciate you, legends. Thank you 😍

Also, a special mention to Mullumbimby-Brunswick Bobsledders, who moved to 2nd grade alongside the Crocs this season. The Bobsledders finished the regular season in 4th, then bet 1st place finisher Byron Bay in last weekends semi-final. Unfortunately the Final today vs Cudgen is washed out, however an outstanding season from Mullum-Bruns 🫑
Congratulations also to Cudgen Hornets for winning the inaugural FNCCC North Division Title 🐝 πŸ† Best of luck against the Ballina Bears in the regional final next weekend.

Lastly, a big thanks to everyone who's supported and followed the Crocs journey so far. From a few mates using cricket nets to meet for exercise (and beers) during covid lockdowns, to 4 fun filled seasons of cricket & good times on Saturday afternoons 🏏🐊

We appreciate your support and look forward to giving it a red hot crack next season.

Firstly apologies for the lack of recent updates, our social media volunteer has been under the pump with work commitments.

Well, its been two weeks of great cricketing contests for the Crocs. First was Pottsville, where the lads were chasing 130 and cruising to victory. But a late collapse saw our last 2 batsmen (Jarad Gorman & Nathan Metz) needing 7 runs to win. 25 balls later, Metzy & Jarad had done it, icing the game and earning a nerve-wracking 1 wicket win.

Next up was Terranorra Lakes over the weekend. Winning the toss and batting first, the lads put in a decent showing scoring 6/180 off their 40 overs. The match went down to wire with Lakes eventually getting the winning runs with 3 balls to spare and 2 wickets in hand for a 2 wicket victory.

Both games were played with sharp competitiveness but in great spirit without hostile confrontation. Post-game beers were shared with both teams with everyone reflecting how enjoyable the contests were and that "how good is cricket."

So, as it stands for a chance at finals, the Crocs will need to win their remaining 2 games against Tweed-Banora Colts (8th) & Cudgen Hornets (2nd). However with South East QLD & Northern NSW about to experience their first Tropical Cyclone in 30+ years, the odds of playing are slim. But this pales in significance as Cyclone Alfred bears down on the coast with millions between the Sunshine Coast in QLD & Grafton in NSW likely impacted.

If you are anywhere within this area, please take action to prepare. Check your state website for advice and stay safe over the next few days.

Earlier this week, some of our silver-fox Crocs headed to Tamworth to represent the Far North Coast in the NSW State Over 40 Championships.

Our younger old Crocs & the Far North Coasters (FNCs) did the region proud, finishing 5th in the round robin, before going down in the 5th v 6th final by 1 wicket on the last ball to finish 6th in the 12 team competition.

From all reports, it was a brilliant tournament with as much fun had off the field as on it, and many sore bodies (and heads) across the Northern Rivers this week.

The Crocs went down against Mur'bah Panthers by 107 runs over the weekend. Full credit to Mur'bah who were playing for their season and the better team on the day. With 4 games left, the Crocs are still in control of their own destiny in the hunt for a finals spot, and will be looking to bounce back against Pottsville this weekend.

With the Crocs sitting 5th & tied on 61 pts with 4th placed Mullum-Bruns, and Mur'bah only 3 behind on 58 pts in 6th, tomorrow's match shapes up as one of the most significant contests of the season far. Fingers crossed the weather plays ball for what should be a cracking afternoon of cricket & good times.

Match Report: Crocs vs Mullum-Bruns Bobsledders, 8/2/25.

After a heavy loss to Byron Bay the previous game, there was plenty on the line when the Crocs took on Mullum-Bruns over the weekend. With the Bobsledders sitting 4th, the Crocs 6th, and both in a 3 way shoot out for 4th spot with Mur'bah, the match had added significance in the race for finals.

Losing the toss and being sent into bat, Matt Corney & Kai George opened the innings and put on 98 for the first wicket before Kai fell for a well played 47 off 39 with 5 fours & 2 sixes. Jack McDonald scored 33 and Zac Merrion & Tony Levings 21 each, however the star of the day was Matt Corney, who batted the entire innings to score the first ever ton for the Crocs, finishing on 121 not-out off 114 balls with 16 fours and 1 six. It was a fantastic knock with shots to all corners and helped the Crocs reach 8/258 after 40 overs.

In the field, Nathan Metz was the pick of the bowlers claiming 4/29 off 8 overs and was unlucky not to get a 5th & 6th wicket. Jack McDonald & Kai George both took 2 each while Joesph Medley and Darcy Mcgregor chipped in with 1 wicket a piece, helping the Crocs dismiss Mullum-Bruns for 151 and claim a 108 run win.

It was a much needed victory that moved the Crocs to 5th place with 5 games remaining in the regular season. Next up is 6th placed Mur'bah Panthers, which should be another cracking contest with both teams gunning to make the top 4.

Massive Congratulations to Matty Dalton for making the QLD Indigenous team and becoming the first Croc to receive representative honours πŸ…πŸŠ

Matty has one of the most arousing bowling actions you will ever see, and is more than handy with the bat in the lower-middle order 🏏 He has a genius of a cricketing-brain and is one of the nicest blokes you'd ever meet 🀝

Very well done Matty πŸ’ͺ and all the very best for the Nationals at Mackay in April πŸ†πŸβš«οΈπŸŸ‘πŸ”΄
