Out and About …..
It’s been lovely to have a couple of our members begin getting out and competing in Grade 6 PCV locally. Harcourt and Ararat Combined Training at Dunolly was one of their first competitions. They had a great day bringing home the first and second ribbon! Among the lessons we learnt, was not to have a milk shake between the dressage and show jumping!
A month later we headed out nice and early to Midland Zone Combined training at Maryborough. Po decided he’d rather do show jumping and jumped out of the dressage arena and Ruth went into the show jumping very nervous so Story stopped at 3 jumps. We watched them go through the disappointment and learn the hard lesson that every equestrian competitor must learn ….. gracious disappointment. Sometimes you have a great day and sometimes you have a day. But it’s all good because we are out there with our horses and learning.
We watched the girls go through it, supporting each other and ending up having an enjoyable afternoon watching the riders in higher levels do the show jumping and cross country.
What was wonderful was seeing the older riders talk to their horses around the cross country and heartily thanking their horses at the end of the jumping.
Back at Maryborough Combined Training for a take 2 and both girls had a better day. Another member brought her pony who got used to the competition atmosphere. It was wonderful having club supporters.
Our club is a small casual club having warm friendly gatherings once a month, helping beginner riders. Feel free to pop out and say hello or organise a “Come and Try”. Or if you are thinking of getting a pony for your child feel free to come and chat to us 😊🥕
