Hello everyone, and welcome back to basketball.
As we returned back to the courts this week after the Christmas break, itβs great to see everyone refreshed and enthusiastic. At the same time, our thoughts are with those in Harcourt and surrounding areas who were impacted by the recent bushfires.
Many homes and structures have been lost, and so many of our friends, families, and community members are facing significant hardship. Several members of our basketball family have been directly affected and others have close ties to the impacted areas, and our hearts are with them all.
Like many local community organisations, our association is in a position to offer both support and a way for our basketball community to stand alongside those who need it most during this incredibly difficult time.
Moments like these remind us of the deeper purpose of sport β and basketball in particular. Beyond the scoreboard, it brings people together, creates connection and routine, and shows the strength of community when we rally together.
With this in mind, Castlemaine Basketball Association will be donating the first 3 weeks of game fees to the Harcourt bushfire relief effort.
I am incredibly proud of the compassion, unity, and generosity shown by our basketball community. Thank you for your leadership, care, and willingness to support one another and the wider community.
