Would you like to represent Castlemaine in the upcoming basketball season?

We are currently seeking players to tryout for our rep squad. We are looking for players in all age groups including Under 12, 14, 16 and 18. Player age groups are based on how old they will be on 31/12/27.

If you are interested in trying out for one of our boys rep teams please come along to one of the following tryout sessions at the Castlemaine Basketball Stadium.

Under 12: Sunday August 30 and Sunday September 6 at 9.30am
Under 14, 16, & 18: Wednesday September 2 and Wednesday September 9 at 5.45pm

Castlemaine Basketball would like to wish the Victoria Wonders the very best as they open their 2026 Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball League season in Bendigo later this month.
It’s fantastic to see elite wheelchair basketball showcased in regional Victoria, with Central Victorian athletes Shelley Matheson, Kim Hampton and Harriet Caldwell proudly representing their region on the national stage.
A special shoutout to Castlemaine Basketball Association's very own Shelley Matheson, who will play WNWBL games in Central Vic for the first time in her incredible 20-season national league career. 🖤

"Can you put my child on their friend's team?" or "Can you put my child in the higher grade because all his friends are there?" These are common requests that we accommodate. The support and safety friendships offer is undeniable. However, navigating change is also a skill we want kids to develop through sports. A child may be sacrificing more skill development by moving up too fast. Their confidence might dip because they cannot compete with kids who might be more physically developed or coordinated at that age. New teams and new teammates offer kids the ability to develop their "friend-making" skills, a valuable ability in a busy world. In the end, parents can do a lot to help kids through that change and assist in the development of confidence and the soft-skills beneficial to growth.

Our three boys Rep teams have been working hard and building something special. We have been to three tournaments over the past 6 months or so and we are looking forward to our next one.
Coach Boye has been working with the Under 12s, Huw with the Under 14s and Lachlan and Chris with the Under 16s. It’s been awesome to see the development in these young players.
The future of basketball is bright in Castlemaine!
