Confidence Is Borrowed Before It's Owned
Every confident adult was once an uncertain child.
They didn't wake up one morning believing in themselves.
They borrowed confidence.
From a parent.
A teacher.
A coach.
A mentor.
Someone who believed in them... Until they eventually learned to believe in themselves.
Over the years, I've been fortunate enough to work with people from many different walks of life.
Business leaders.
Musicians.
Students.
Parents.
Children.
One thing has always fascinated me.
Confidence rarely appears overnight.
It grows quietly.
One small step at a time.
One success.
One failure.
One lesson.
One person believing in you when you couldn't yet believe in yourself.
One of the greatest privileges of my life has been watching that moment happen over and over again.
> A child who once stood quietly at the back of the room...
Now volunteers to demonstrate in front of the class.
> A student who avoided eye contact...
Now walks into a room with quiet confidence.
Not because they became someone different.
But because they discovered who they were capable of becoming all along.
That journey doesn't belong only to children.
Adults experience it too.
We all need someone who sees potential in us before we can fully see it ourselves.
I've come to believe that one of the greatest gifts we can give another person isn't advice, It isn't instruction, It isn't even opportunity.
"It's belief"
Because when someone genuinely believes in us...
Something remarkable begins to happen.
EVENTUALLY!.
We start believing in ourselves.
And that's where real confidence begins.
