The second round of the “Heather Payne” tournament was held in Casterton on Wednesday 8th of October, the first round in Coleraine on the 1st October. Coleraine had a very convincing win playing extremely well both days. Another great tournament, all players having an enjoyable time.

Our juniors winning silver medals at the Australian under 21 championships.

These two junior members of the Casterton Croquet Club have once again done us proud. Both have been competing in Melbourne over the last three days in the under 21 Australian championships. James Wombwell came equal third winning bronze in the singles and then both boys teamed up to win silver in the doubles. James Mason, James Wombwell we are extremely proud of you both. Congratulations. You’ve both done so well.

Sun was out in Casterton this afternoon and so were the members of our club making the most of this opportunity. This is the third week into our winter cup and we’ve only managed to play one round so far. All players enjoyed a great day.

We welcomed two visitors to our courts last Saturday, and managed to play one game before the rain came. Both ladies were very new to croquet but thoroughly enjoyed their experience and learning all about golf croquet.

Last Thursday we hosted an afternoon of croquet with a group from “ Friends and Neighbours “ We were also very pleased to have Queenslanders Bev and Frans drop by to have a couple of games with us. The group form “ Friends and Neighbours “ hadn’t played croquet before and it was interesting to see how they enjoyed the game. With both Bev and Frans experienced players we were able to learn a few moves from Frans and I’m happy to say we are putting these into practice and they appear to be working. All up a very enjoyable afternoon and as the wind turned a little cool we were all happy to head for cover and enjoy a cuppa and some of Margarets delicious slices and scones.
