5 years ago today, I took the leap and launched my business! ๐ I'm incredibly proud of what I've achieved, and even more so of the people I've helped along the way. ๐ช My mission has always been to empower others to build strength, not just physically but mentally too, and to show them that exercise is about nurturing our bodies, not punishing them. Here's to many more years of making a positive impact! ๐
My Story.
My name is Mags and Iโm the founder of STRONG. I am a 35 year old mother and here is my storyโฆ
My personal experience gave me the drive to pursue further studies in Womens Health Fitness.
Four years ago I became a mother, I had the perfect pregnancy, the problems all came after my posterior labour and I ended up with numerous postpartum health complications with my body. I experienced a fourth degree tear, haemorrhoids, 6cm muscle separation and a pr*****ed bladder. Four months after giving birth, I underwent surgery three times to remove my haemorrhoids, seven months later I had surgery to have a TVT sling inserted to hold my bladder in place only find out one month later that the sling was too tight and my bladder wouldnโt function properly, I had to have more surgery. I was also offered surgery for my muscle separation but I refused. At my final check up with my urologist I was told not to put on anymore weight and donโt ever lift over 5kgs, which meant I couldn't lift my little boy.
I felt alone, ashamed, angry and mental health was deteriorating, I felt that my first year of motherhood had been robbed due to all my complications and it was then that I decided to pursue my own studies to begin with my rehabilitation to make my body STRONG.
Based on my determination to heal my body and studies into womenโs health, I tailored my own personal rehabilitation program. My bladder and pelvic floor is strong (no nasty leaks), my muscles are back together and Iโm lifting over 40kgs safely whilst having control of my pelvic floor. Iโm now STRONG from the inside out.
My passion is to help and educate women to get strong pre/post natal as some exercises can do more harm than good. I also want to encourage and support women who find it uncomfortable in a gym environment and are unsure about lifting weights.
If my story resinates with you I would love to hear from you!
