VHCA Open House – Monday Night HEMA in Melbourne’s South East
New for 2025 – Free Open House Format
Victorian Historical Combat Academy (VHCA) is now running free-form, peer-to peer training sessions every Monday night 7pm – 9pm at Packer Park Pavilion, Carnegie. We welcome all HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) practitioners from across Melbourne to join us in a relaxed and inclusive train
ing environment. What to Expect
- The “Open House” format encourages attendees to suggest sparring or training activities with others on the night
- Most members train sabre in the Radaelli tradition
- Members explore others weapons including longsword, foil, sword & buckler, dagger, spear, and more
- Expect 5–10 friendly bouts per night, plus time to rest, observe, or discuss techniques
Equipment & Experience Levels
- Olympic and training sabres are generally available for use
- For other weapons or gear, please contact us in advance to check availability
New to HEMA?
– Come and observe, or
– Arrange introductory sabre training on Monday nights (equipment can be provided)
It is an enjoyable way to learn about sword fighting and history, while also improving fitness and having the opportunity to meet new people in a supportive and very friendly environment.
