Our own Seb Seager has produced a translated edition of the Sword and Sabre fencing of Giordano Rossi (1885). It is a heavilly illustrated 278 page full pedagogy in the military style.
So far this is the only English edition.

Please share in the appropriate groups!

The first ever full English translation of Giordano Rossi's 1885 fencing treatise, a continuation of the revolutionary method created by Giuseppe Radaelli, the father of modern sabre fencing. Covering both foil and sabre fencing, along with a summary of rules for conducting duels, the text is comple...

As we cautiously peek our heads out of Lockdown #5, please keep your wits about you as we once again resume our regularly scheduled Monday Night training.

Hosted by VHCA at Parker Park (yes, our old venue with sprung wooden floors!), please come along and relive past glories on the stripe and maybe share the experience of making some new ones with the sabre.

Apologies for the short notice but community sport is back on!

We are trialling a new venue tonight at the Duccan McKinnon Reserve Pavillion (not Packer Park) from 8:30-10:00pm.

Feel free drop in and work off the rust built up after 2020. $10 at the door as per usual.

This is going to be a good one. The Chows have been reading all kinds of stuff lately for inspiration.

The Course follows three principles. The first is that sabre is meant to be fun. The second is that sabre is a combat sport, and both combat and sport can only be learned by doing. The third principle is that sabre is diverse and ever changing.

Seb dishes out a long awaited article on sabres used in military exercise. If you want a broad overview of what military sabre fencing equipment looked like in the mid to late 19th century, this will deliver the goods.

Introduction When recreating a fencing system as recorded in a historical treatise or manual, due consideration is needed when selecting the training tools used for such an undertaking. If these to…

PvD has been discounted for all those locked in the house with nothing to do.

Seb and I will also do what we can to put out more affordable print media for fencers while social distancing is in effect.

Wash your hands, everyone.

We are still on for now and will update next week on any information we get. It will most likely come down to whether the council opts to close our hall in light of the outbreak.

Until then:
-use your own mask
-avoid grappling
-fist bump with your gloves on instead of handshaking

As in all other areas of life at the moment, keep washing your hands and coughing into your elbow. If you are sick, stay home.

See you all soon, and congratulations to our regulars who competed today at Ides of March organised by Scholar Victoria.
