Garryowen 1-18
Sinn Fein 1-11

Garryowen have booked their place in the GGV Celtic Club Senior Hurling Championship Final following a deserved victory over a determined Sinn Fรฉin side in Sundayโ€™s semi-final at Gaelic Park.

Played in excellent conditions, both teams approached the contest with great intensity from the opening whistle. Garryowen settled quickly into their rhythm, with Rory Oโ€™Connor and David Byrne controlling proceedings around the middle third and helping their side gain an early foothold in the game.

A key feature of Garryowenโ€™s performance was the work rate and commitment shown throughout the field. Robbie Hanley was particularly influential at centre-back, covering huge ground and consistently delivering quality ball into the forward line. His reading of the game and distribution provided the perfect platform for many of Garryowenโ€™s attacking moves.

Sinn Fรฉin battled hard throughout the opening half and remained competitive for long periods, but Garryowen finished the half strongly. The decisive moment came when Dylan Shaughnessy produced excellent work to create an opportunity for Andy Loughnane, who showed great composure to find the back of the net. The goal helped Garryowen open up a commanding lead and they went into the break ahead on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-05.

To their credit, Sinn Fรฉin continued to work tirelessly after the restart and never allowed the intensity to drop. However, Garryowen remained composed and disciplined in all areas of the field. Cian Mahony was outstanding at full-back, leading by example and helping to ensure the defence remained solid throughout the second period.

There were strong performances right across the team in what was a genuine collective effort, but David Byrneโ€™s display stood out. Byrne was influential from start to finish, driving his side forward with relentless work rate, skill and leadership, earning a well-deserved Man of the Match award.

It was an excellent championship performance from Garryowen against a committed Sinn Fรฉin outfit. The victory secures a place in the GGV Celtic Club Senior Hurling Championship Final, where Garryowen will look to build on this display and continue their impressive run in pursuit of championship silverware.

Garryowen 4-19
Sinn Fein 0-02

Garryowen booked their place in the GGV Intermediate Football Championship Final following an impressive performance against Sinn Fรฉin in Gaelic Park on Sunday.

The men in red and black made the perfect start when Shane Gilsenan found the net inside the opening minute. Kevin Healy quickly added a pointed free before following up with two further scores as Garryowen established an early lead.

The Garryowen defence remained solid throughout the half, with Evan Reaney producing an excellent display at the back while Piarasy McCaffery marshalled the defence superbly. Further scores from John Bates and David Andrews continued to stretch the advantage, while Oisรญn McKenna worked tirelessly across the half-forward line.

Bates, McKenna and Healy all added to the scoreboard before the interval as Garryowen went into the break firmly in control. Half Time: Garryowen 1-12 Sinn Fรฉin 0-02

The second half could not have started any better for Garryowen. Within the opening minute of the restart, David Andrews and Kevin Healy both found the net in quick succession to put the result beyond doubt.

Mark Driscoll then added a fourth goal, following in his girlfriendโ€™s footsteps after her scoring exploits earlier in the day, as Garryowen continued to dominate proceedings. Further scores from Dara Walsh, John Bates and Breanainn Brรบ rounded off an excellent team performance.

A comprehensive victory sees Garryowen advance to the Intermediate Football Championship Final, where they will look to carry this momentum into the decider.

Garryowen 2-13
St Kevinโ€™s 1-15

Garryowen booked their place in the GGV Senior Football Championship Final following a dramatic one point victory over St Kevinโ€™s in a thrilling semi-final at Gaelic Park.

It was a difficult start for the men in red and black as St Kevinโ€™s raced out of the blocks, registering three scores inside the opening five minutes. Oisรญn McKenna settled Garryowen with their first score of the afternoon before Sean McSweeney converted a superb two-point free to keep his side in touch.

Paudy Clancy was outstanding throughout the opening half, combining strong defensive work with powerful runs forward, while Cian Oโ€™Leary battled hard in the full-back line. Despite Garryowenโ€™s efforts, St Kevinโ€™s continued to apply pressure and opened up a healthy advantage, helped by a well-taken goal.

Garryowen never let their heads drop and continued to battle, but found themselves trailing at the break. Half Time: Garryowen 0-05, St Kevinโ€™s 1-08

The second half saw a transformed Garryowen side emerge. Sean McSweeney opened the scoring before calmly dispatching a penalty to the back of the net, instantly bringing his side back into contention. Brian Clifford added an important score as the momentum began to swing.

At the other end, Ciarรกn Hanley put his body on the line time and time again with crucial blocks, while Joe Sweeney provided a solid platform around the middle of the field. Eoin Lambert marshalled the defence superbly, keeping the back line organised as the contest intensified.

With fifteen minutes remaining, just a single point separated the sides before a moment of brilliance from Paudy Clancy. Picking the perfect time to attack, Clancy found the net in style to drag Garryowen right back into the game.

The closing stages were played at a frantic pace, with Sean McSweeney and Frank Down helping to level matters as both teams traded scores.

In the final minute of the game, Garryowen found themselves just 1 point down and staring at championship heartbreak. However, when a late free was awarded, Sean McSweeney showed incredible courage and composure for the last kick of the game. Opting to go for the two-pointer rather than the safer option, McSweeney struck the ball perfectly between the posts to seal a remarkable victory and spark wild celebrations among the Garryowen supporters.

A tremendous second-half display sees Garryowen advance to the GGV Celtic Club Senior Football Championship Final, where they will look to take home the championship title.

Garryowen 2-04
Pearses 0-09

Garryowen booked their place in the 2026 GGV Ladies Intermediate Football Championship Final following a dramatic one point victory over Pearses in a thrilling semi final battle at Gaelic Park.

Garryowen could not have asked for a better start. Winning the throw-in, the ball was worked brilliantly through Aoife Santry, Aoife Nic A Bhรกird and Niamh Ellis before Niamh Oโ€™Brien rattled the net inside the opening minute to give Garryowen the perfect start.

The Garryowen defence stood firm throughout the first half with Aimee Lannigan, Rhona McDonagh and Siobhรกn Morley putting in outstanding displays to keep Pearses at bay. Myra Oโ€™Sullivan added a valuable point, while Niamh Ellis gained another point after excellent work rate from Sinรฉad Moran and Emma Cody to keep Garryowen ahead.

Pearses responded well and continued to chip away at the deficit, but Garryowen dug deep and carried a narrow lead into the break. Half Time: Garryowen 1-03 Pearses 0-05

The second half was a true championship battle. Pearses emerged strongly and struck two early points to edge in front for the first time. However, this Garryowen side showed tremendous character and refused to let their season end.

Oโ€™Brien settled nerves with a crucial point, while Landers, Nic A Bhรกird and Santry battled tirelessly around the middle of the field. At the back, Heather Hayes and Caitrรญona Nรญ Riagรกin produced two outstanding goal-saving blocks to keep Garryowen within touching distance.

With time running out and a place in the final hanging in the balance, Niamh Oโ€™Brien produced a moment of magic. From a free kick, she sent an unstoppable effort to the back of the net to put Garryowen back in front and spark scenes of celebration around Gaelic Park.

When the final whistle sounded, the emotion was clear for all to see. Every player gave everything for the red and white jersey, showing incredible fight, passion and determination from first whistle to last.

After months of hard work, commitment and dedication, these girls have earned their place in the GGV Championship Final and now look forward to the biggest game of their season.
