The Carnarvon Tennis Club has a proud history beginning more than a century ago in the 1890's. At this time the court surfaces were hard clay. No, not like Roland Garros. In the mid 1970's a decision was made to relocate the tennis centre to allow for development and expansion. In 1977, the club officially opened at its current location in Butcher St. Prior to its current form the site was known as Manuell Park and used for bowls. The club consisted of four cement courts with a tin club house. Since this time the number of courts has expanded to eight with all courts fully lit.
