We had a BBQ today to kick-start 2026. Thanks very much to Juan Plazas for cooking some gourmet burgers. Thanks to all who came along for some nice food, a couple of cold drinks and some good tennis. All CGTC members are welcome every Sunday from 8.30am to 1pm.

Last Sunday (7/12), we had our 2025 Christmas Party. Fun was had, a bit of tennis was played, some nice food and drinks were enjoyed and there was lots of great conversation. Merry Christmas to all from CGTC.

Our Wednesday night social comp hosted the term 4 finals of 2025 on 3/12/25. Many thanks to the organisers Vanessa, Ben, Alicia and Ian who have done a great job since taking over mid-year. They also happened to take out the winners' trophy this term. Congrats!

Special recognition goes to Alicia Robson for winning the perpetual Castledine-Taylor trophy for best team player, after the inaugural winner, Zac Cribbes, in September. Alicia is a quiet achiever who does a lot of work behind the scenes, including helping out with the community sessions held every Saturday at the club. Well done Alicia.

Throwback to last week when Term 1 of our Wednesday Night Tennis held their finals night.

Organisers Barb, Wayne, James and Begonia took the chocolates on the Brian Falconer showcourt. Super work CGTCers.

Congratulations to everyone who swang a racquet on the night, there was some entertaining and skilful tennis on every court.

Organisers would like to pass on their thanks to everyone who helped out in some way throughout the season by filling in for a team, cleaning up, locking up, unlocking gates or whatever it was you did!

We had a great season with lots of laughs and we are looking forward to another BIG season in Term 2.

This is a lady with a tennis racquet.

Is she a beginner? Is she a free swinging hitter from way back? It doesn’t matter to us here at CGTC as we have sessions that are suited to every level of player.

This one’s a shout out to the ladies. If you’re only just starting out, we’ve got a session for you on Sunday afternoon.

Feeling like you’ve passed your “beginner phase” and rest for a set or two? Our Thursday night session with CGTC favourite Marcia is your time to shine.

Harder hitting, freer swinging style lady that’s ready to match it with some wannabe lads? Join our Fast Tennis session with lovely CGTC legend Tom between 5-7.30pm in Wednesdays.

Our 2024 AGM was held this afternoon in stunning autumn sunshine, and there were a few bits of important news to report from it. Firstly, we’re in a great spot as a club and all set up for a smashing year ahead. Our current committee are going to keep on keeping on as they have been for the past 12 months, so we say a massive thank you to them.

Our stars of the day though were the recipients of our two big gongs, the community service award named after one of the CGTC greats, Brian Falconer, and the club service award.

For the Falconer, we say a massive thank you and congratulations to Ben Castledine, a wonderful CGTCer that has helped create a welcoming environment at our club for many years. You’re a cracker Benny, and we say a heartfelt thank you once again for everything you bring to our club and the people that come through its gates.

For the club service award, we say thank you to Marcia Chew for her years of dedication to the Thursday night ladies session. It continues to be one of our great social sessions, providing many ladies in the community with a warm introduction to our club. Thank you so much Marcia!!

Thanks finally go out to all our members fur another great year. Stay tuned for an exciting year ahead!

On Wednesday night the good folk of CGTC finished another belting season of social tennis. Huge ups to Pauline, Barb, Euan and Wayne for doing a smashing couple seasons of organising, and also for taking out the Term 4 cup! We doff our sweaty, smelly tennis caps in your general direction.

Thanks one and all amongst us that played in the spirit of fun and gratitude we put above all here at CGTC. You’re a bunch of gems.

As we come towards the end of another year we’re thankful again for the chance to play where we do with the people we do!

So here at CGTC we’re big on bringing people together and having a chat. That’s why RUOK day done CGTC style a couple weeks back was such a rollicking success. Just look at those faces!!

So, as a club who’s dedicated to doing what we can for our community under the banner of playing tennis, we ask RUOK on the day itself and every we have the chance to in our own ways.

Big shouts to Barb, Wayne, Euan and Pauline for pulling the night together. You’re CGTCers through and through.

And so it was. The lovely folk from the Fitzroy Tennis Club, led by prez Chris Ryan, came, saw and conquered.

Seven sets a piece, our two little clubs could only be separated by the game score.

Through the drizzle, plenty a laugh, chat, drink and nibble was had.

Libs Cartledge led the day with aplomb, PC wove his salad and slider magic, Laihar whipped up a beautiful vege curry and Lobb Ondaline came and confused everyone.

Thank you one and all for your spirit of fun and chipping in generally. You’re a bunch of gems. Until next time FTC!!

This is Ivana Vindematch. She’s terrifying. She is also quite keen on you attending the CGTC Christmas Party on December 4. Better do what she says.

There’ll be Pimms, chicken sandwiches, a sausie roll or three, Chrissy tunes (light on when it comes to Mariah and the Bube), and good times ahoy.

After the past couple of years we’re looking forward to a great day of fun and frivolity. Come one, come all!
