RIP Holoua Tonga
As many of you would be aware, last week Balmain tragically lost one of its Kentwell Cup players, Holoua Tonga, when he was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident while riding to work. The entire club and community has been rocked by this tragedy. One of the more heartbreaking facts is that Holoua’s widowed wife, Natalie now faces the challenge of raising their two young children, Hugo (turning 3 shortly) and Harper (8 months old) without Holoua’s support and guidance.
Over the past 24 hours Balmain players set a target of raising $10,000 which will form an education trust account to support Natalie with future education expenses and any sporting endeavours of Hugo and Harper as they progress through school. Balmain reached that target within 24 hours, and the club is now opening this up to the wider rugby community via a crowdfunding site, as numerous clubs have been asking if they can contribute.
More information on Holoua and the fund is available both via the link below and the Balmain Rugby page. A target of $50,000 has been set.
