Tomorrow sees all our teams playing Semi Finals in the John Adams Winter Pennant competition. It's been a wonderful achievement and selectors have managed to 'spread the love' over our three teams. Good luck to all those playing and sporting a Princes Park Carlton Bowls Club Guernsey tomorrow.

A few of our members gave 'stirring' acceptance speeches at our Presentation Night on Saturday evening.
Anthony Piazza spoke of how he was made to feel welcome and encouraged whilst accepting his Novice Champions trophy. David Buckley spoke of our club's special camaraderie and how playing with friends sees him going that extra yard on the green accepting his trophy. He won the club Pairs with Ian Cunliffe.
And Paul Jenkins
gave one of his stirring Churchillian speeches collecting his Club Champion award.
Again highlighting how special our club is, moreover having been promoted 3 divisions these last 4 seasons with our small membership base.
All three more or less reiterating what our members know too well.
Princes Park Carlton Bowls Club is a unique bowls club.

We concluded the Home & Away John Adams Winter Pennant matches on another Meat Loaf note...'Two Out of Three Ain't Bad'.
However more importantly all 3 sides will be playing in Semi Finals next Saturday. Yesterday's results were.
Flemington Ken 44- Princes Park Carlton Bowls Club 47
Auburn 43- PPC 50
Doutta Galla 57- PPC 34
Our Firsts will be hosting Hawthorn at home. Whilst both our Seconds and Thirds will be travelling to Doutta Galla for their Semi Finals.
We're looking forward to getting back on the green next weekend.

You're a nice guy but you're still the worst president in our club's history Santo."
"If I'm the worst...then you're the second worst Blair."
They'll never agree on what constitutes 'Good Governance' when it comes to the running and administration of a bowls club.
However they both love our bowls club with a passion.
Newish members need to be given a history lesson on the important role Santo has played in our club's Modern Era.
Past President and especially Benefactor- Patron ( financial ).
'Ask not what your bowls club can do for YOU...but what YOU can do for your club.'
Around a decade ago he paid individuals to play out of his own pocket so our bottom side would be able to field a side. Plenty of clubs pay top flight bowlers to bolster their top teams. Santo was paying people who'd never bowled to rock up on Saturdays so our 'fringe members' wouldn't miss out on playing pennant on Saturdays in the lowest division. He's been living and playing Pennant in Adelaide for close on a decade now, however he still pays his annual membership here.
Yes, every bowls club could do with a Santo Caruso...or two on their books.

Another terrific day on the green at Princes Park Carlton Bowls Club today.
All three teams have secured finals playoffs after today's results. The surprise result was our Divi 3 losing their first game of the season.
PPC 66-StKilda 68.
StKilda's Jo Ann Pacholli's 'Blitzkrieg' singles performance was the knockout blow that inflicted our first loss of the season.
It was a real wake-up call for our Firsts.
Our Divi 5 side was given a scare however we showed grit and got over the line
PPC 71- Middle Park 66.
Our top performing team were Divi 7.
They had an impressive win.
PPC 90 - Fitzroy Victoria Bowling & Sports Club 47.
Well done to all those who played today.

We have all three teams playing at home tomorrow. And we expect to see a quasi Carnival atmosphere with 9 rinks being used, across both greens. All teams are in finals contention. The Seconds and Thirds chasing wins to consolidate their places in the Four. Whilst our First have 'mathematically' already confirmed that they'll be playing in the finals series. A special treat will see two of Princes Park Carlton Bowls Club favourite sons on the green tomorrow. Santo has flown in from Adelaide. Whilst Callum is making a rare appearance. We're delighted to see both of them having made themselves available.
Santo and Callum are both past presidents and they've both been wonderful servants of Princes Park over many seasons.

Hospitality
A shout out to Doutta Galla who hosted Princes Park Carlton Bowls Club yesterday. They put on a generous lunch spread for visiting clubs who played in the John Adams Winter Pennant competition. We've developed a friendly rivalry with DG. They're a small club ( like us with two weekend Pennant teams ). And they're top heavy with a few colourful characters.
We've got the 'odd balls' and they've got a few 'rough diamonds'.
It's a cocktail that makes bowls enjoyable.
We're looking forward to our next encounter !

We managed a trifecta today.
All three Princes Park Carlton Bowls Club teams had wins.
Our Firsts chalked up their fifth straight against City of Melbourne.
And they're sitting on top of the ladder, undefeated. Our Seconds managed to just hang on... nudging out Doutta Galla who were previously undefeated.
And our Thirds had a solid win out at StKilda.
All our teams are very much in finals contention.
Well done today.

We're approaching the 'business end' of the John Adams Winter Pennant season.
With all our three sides aiming for finals playoffs.
Our Firsts, currently undefeated are playing City of Melbourne. We've developed a spirited rivalry with our Big Cousins from Flagstaff Gardens. No doubt they'll want to avenge their 1 Shot loss to Princes Park Carlton Bowls Club in the Midweek Pennant Grand Final earlier in the year. Our Seconds are playing Doutta Galla who are undefeated sitting on top of the ladder.
Whilst our Thirds are heading off to StKilda with the aim of keeping a finals berth alive.
