number 3: Develop a Pre-Race Routine! There is no denying that the immediate lead up to a race is a very nervous and stressful time for any runner, but a consistent routine can give you a feeling of control and familiarity that can have a major impact, it can give you the โ€œi got thisโ€ feeling. Figure out how long and intense of a warm up run you need, what dynamic stretches work for you, what your stomach handles well before a race, how much water to drink before hand, how close to the start time you should finish the warm up, how much sleep you need the night before, when to change into your racing gear, etc. Remember, any plan is better than no plan, reduce the anxiety of racing day by controlling everything that can be controlled.

Keeping the ZUU vibe going with this silly video just to really hammer in the point that you can do ZUU anywhere, anytime. Thereโ€™s no need for a gym or equipment. The only thing you need is the mindset to move and have some fun. The overdue second post of my running tips series - TRAIN SMART!! Within the running community our biggest strength is our biggest weakness...PRIDE! The thing that gets us out on the streets, and makes us enjoy the pain/challenge of training is the same thing that can hold some of us back. We need to know when to hold back to stay within certain training zones, a training plan should be balanced and going all out in every session will most likely slow down your progress. Never forget the importance of rest, recovery run, easy long runs, tempo runs, technique drills, etc. Different intensities create different adaptations on your body, do not be one dimensional.

2019 is in the books. I always love seeing so many people out on the streets, running and having fun. Itโ€™s a great atmosphere to be a part of. My preparation was interrupted by bronchitis and a bad back, so I was extremely pleased and surprised with the end result. Again I showed great control with my pace, always being smart about when to stick with the plan, and when to make a push. Iโ€™m starting to feel the competitive itch again and I believe that going comfortably sub 35 in nov/dec is a very achievable goal.

Iโ€™ve decided to start a series of running tips from the knowledge I have acquired through years of experience ๐Ÿ˜Š, some of them will include a bit of science, but this is mostly anecdotal.
Tip 1: never race wearing this you havenโ€™t tried before! This seem like common sense but not everybody does it. Even a short 5K race means taking about 4500 steps, imagine something rubbing the wrong way 4500 times! Be smart, test drive whatever equipment youโ€™ll use on race day. This includes hats, shirt, shorts, compression, socks, shoes, underwear, etc (basically EVERYTHING!).
