There is no denying that the immediate lead up to a race is a very nervous and stressful time for any runner, but a consistent routine can give you a feeling of control and familiarity that can have a major impact, it can give you the โi got thisโ feeling. Figure out how long and intense of a warm up run you need, what dynamic stretches work for you, what your stomach handles well before a race, how much water to drink before hand, how close to the start time you should finish the warm up, how much sleep you need the night before, when to change into your racing gear, etc. Remember, any plan is better than no plan, reduce the anxiety of racing day by controlling everything that can be controlled.
