You'll be able to buy dinner on both nights. The briefing night (22nd) and presentation night (24th).
One of the food vans you'll find outside is Jane's Catering
Jane makes the most delicious, healthy food. I'm sure you've all sampled her fabulous prawn rolls either at the rest area or at the Cardwell Jetty Markets. ๐Ÿฅ™๐Ÿค๐Ÿฅ—

Great work members....๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
We are catching up to Bundaberg Sportfishing Club in the Queensland club species challenge. We are currently on 75 species and they are on 81.
I've listed below the species that we have caught. I know the weather isn't the best but try get out there and catch a few more species for the club.
ANSA Queensland year is financial (not calendar) so we have just over a couple of weeks to try and beat them.
Last year there were just 11 fish logged so this year is a huge improvement. Well done ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Changes to monthly comp in 2026:
Best 5 Fish Mains Board 2026
We changed the rules for the monthly competition at our meeting of 9.3.26 to make the monthly challenge fairer for all members.
Starting from February this year, an anglerโ€™s best 5 fish will be counted towards the monthly Champion Angler and Champion Angler for the year.
That didnโ€™t change the outcome for February 2026 but made it very close between first and second place. John Andrejic still won with 619 points. Sean How Kee was a close second with 608 points.

We still want you to weigh-in all the fish you catch to improve our standing in the State ANSA species competition.
(Even undersized fish count with ANSA. Don't forget that you must release all undersized fish)

Weโ€™ve also introduced a Mains Board (6 species) where the Angler with the biggest fish in each of the 3 Reef and 3 River species at the end of November 2026 will win a $100 voucher from Tackle World Tully
The 6 species are...
Reef: Mackerel (any species), Emperor (any species) and Coral Trout
River: Threadfin Salmon (any species), Grunter (Javelin) and Mangrove Jack.
At the end of February 2026, Sean How Kee had the best fish in all three reef species
Mackerel 113, Emperor (Spangled) 61 and Trout 64
Nate Ihle had the biggest Grunter 59 and Thready 52
John Andrejic had the biggest Jack 41

In the Reef species for March, Sean How Kee is still the leader in all three categories.
Thereโ€™s been a few changes in March River species though;
Callan Ihle has the biggest grunter at the end of March โ€“ 61cm.
Callan also has the biggest king salmon โ€“ 89 cm.
Our new member Stan Skeate just missed out with an 87 cm brute.
John Andrejic still has the biggest jack, beating his Feb record with a 45 cm fish.

The next sausage sizzle BBQ/presentation day will be on Sunday 28th June at 3 pm. Hope to see you all there... In the meantime, happy fishing to you all.๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸŽฃ

Hi Members and anyone thinking about joining the club...
Our free monthly sausage sizzle is on this afternoon at 3 pm.๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

There will be lots of fishing talk, including Jeff Snell's "part 2" talk about Freshwater fishing. Jeff (a long term local) is a wealth of knowledge when it comes fishing.

We will present the fish of the month prizes and lets see if anyone has beaten the current holders of the 6 species challenge.๐Ÿค”

Don't forget that the bar will be open and we are having some raffles too.

See you there at 3 pm๐ŸŽฃ๐ŸŽฃ

UPDATE... unfortunately Jeff is not feeling well this afternoon so his talk will be postponed until next time.
