A Message From Your Southy Family ❤️🤍
South Cardiff Community Football Club is built on volunteers.
🤍 Every week, volunteers help set up fields, pack down equipment, run the BBQ, act as Duty Officers and complete countless jobs behind the scenes so our players can take the field each weekend.
♥️ As our club continues to grow, we need more of our Southy family to get involved and help share the load.
At the start of the season, every team was provided with a Duty Officer vest. We ask that every team supplies a Duty Officer at every home game. This role should not fall to coaches or managers, who are already volunteering their time to support our players each week.
We also ask for a couple of volunteers from each team when playing at home to assist with:
⚽ Setting up fields
⚽ Packing down fields
⚽ Helping on the BBQ
⚽ Duty Officer responsibilities
Recently, we’ve had some games where volunteer roles haven’t been filled, resulting in fields not being set up or packed down and BBQ shifts being left uncovered. 😢
We understand life is busy, but the reality is that community football only works when our community gets involved.
If every family volunteered just once or twice during the season, no single person would feel overwhelmed. Many hands really do make light work.
For those who may not realise, South Cardiff Community Club is currently run by a committee of just 7 volunteers — Graham, Andy, Mick, Lachlan, Amy, Kacie and Meagan.
Mick works tirelessly behind the scenes as Club Secretary, Lachlan spends most weekends refereeing games across our competition, and Graham, Andy, Amy, Kacie and Meagan are the faces you’ll regularly see at the grounds on Saturdays (and often Sundays too) helping keep everything running smoothly.
Together, we’re supporting around 580 players and their families. That’s a lot of football, a lot of community and a lot of opportunities to make a difference.
♥️ To everyone who already steps up and helps — thank you. Your time, effort and dedication do not go unnoticed. Southy is a better club because of you.
