Bayside District Amateur Radio Society incorporated, a non-profit voluntary organisation comprising Amateur Radio Operators and electronics experimenters in SE Qld. Bayside District Amateur Radio Society (BDARS) is a non-profit voluntary organisation comprising Amateur Radio Operators and electronics experimenters mainly from Redland City area, of greater Brisbane. Amateur radio (also called ham radio) is part of a truly international hobby open to licence holders to use designated radio frequency spectra for purposes of private recreation, non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation and self-training. BDARS helps local people to become licensed amateurs and to broaden their knowledge of radio, electronics and microelectronics by running a variety of regular activities. These include courses, workshops and group activities. Anyone is welcome to attend our general meetings and see for themselves what is happening in this broad technical hobby.

International Lighthouse / Lightship Weekend

We are planning to support and participate in the ILLW - 2026 event on the weekend of August 15th/16th. BDARS has a history of being part of this event and we’ll continue this tradition by taking part on Saturday August 15th from Cleveland Point (near the lighthouse). We’ll be picking up the equipment on Saturday morning at the museum around 7:00ish, and we should be on site at Cleveland Point soon after - reserving our spot and setting up....
