CANUNGRA SHOW AMBASSADOR PROGRAM 2026

Calling all young local legends!

Looking to build confidence, meet new people, and represent your community? The Canungra Show Ambassador Program is now seeking nominations from passionate local youth.

Why get involved?

- Build confidence and leadership skills

- Make new friends and connections

- Represent your community

- Learn more about agriculture, events, and behind-the-scenes of the Show

- Be part of a supportive, family-like environment

What’s it all about?

The program celebrates the spirit of the Canungra Show and Rodeo, giving participants the chance to get involved in Agriculture, Horticulture, and Fine Arts. The Ambassador team goes on monthly excursions to local agricultural businesses, farms and local shows.

- Prize pack valued at $1,700!

- Junior Show Ambassador – boys and girls – 10 to 14 years old

- Senior Show Ambassador – boys and girls – 15 to 19 years old

The land we operate on is being considered for sale as part of a Defence divestment process—and once it’s gone, it’s gone.

This isn’t just a golf course.

It’s where friendships are built.
Where volunteers give their time.
Where families connect.
Where Defence personnel and veterans find space to reset, stay active, and support their mental health.

For over 50 years, this club has been run by the community, for the community. It costs nothing to taxpayers—and gives everything back.

Losing it means losing:
• A community hub
• A safe, active outdoor space
• A vital connection point for Defence members and veterans
• A piece of Canungra’s identity

March has been an exciting month as we celebrate the exceptional achievements of Lorna Dunwell, our Moriarty Sports Person of the Month. Lorna’s dedication, talent, and versatility make her a true standout among our young athletes and artists.

Lorna has been a passionate swimmer since she started training under Coach Sue Harrison at the Canungra Pool in 2023. Her commitment to the water is evident in her weekly training sessions and her active participation in the Canungra Swim Club. This season taking home a trio of awards being named Junior Girls Age Champion, Junior Club Champion and Junior Girls Encouragement this season. Over the past three seasons, Lorna has consistently demonstrated her prowess in the pool by being named the Junior Girls Club Champion.
a testament to her hard work and determination.

This year, Lorna took her swimming skills to a new level by representing Tamborine Mountain State School at the Broadwater District Swimming Carnival. Her performance at the event showcased her dedication and competitive spirit, earning her recognition among her peers and coaches alike.

Beyond her athletic pursuits, Lorna is also a vibrant member of the arts community. She actively participates in her school’s choir and band, enriching her school life with musical talent and teamwork. Her artistic talents extend beyond the school environment as well; she has been dancing at Loyalty Dance Co in Beaudesert under the guidance of Principal Jane Bennetts. Lorna’s dance repertoire includes Ballet, Contemporary, and Hip Hop, reflecting her passion and versatility in the arts.

Lorna’s achievements in both sports and arts exemplify the well-rounded spirit Moriarty encourages in its students. Her dedication to excellence and her ability to balance multiple interests make her a role model for her peers and a deserving recipient of the Moriarty Sports Person of the Month award.
