The final day of competition saw Brendan Kerry take out the men's program, his sister Chantelle take out the ladies, and duo Greg Merriman and Danielle O'Brien win with a playful performance in the ice dance.

It's a lovely day when you can wake after 4 hours sleep, feel completely brain dead and yet still be smiling. So many people worked so hard together to keep the skating dreams alive in our kids and young adults.

A lovely lady summed it all up for me with the comment 'give them the chance to light the fire within'. Well, that sure happened at Skate Down Under! The standard of skating was exceptional and the comradely support for all skaters from 8 countries was a wonderful thing to see.

Skate Down Under 2013 has now come to an end and what a great success it's been! Even a complete power blackout revved up the crowd.

There was fabulous skating from Australia's elite level competitors and the younger guys and girls gained valuable experience in their first international event. The appearance of international competition also helped to deliver good scores all round.
