We have over 400 junior members, we have boys, girls & mixed teams from U/8. We also offer an Auskick program and pathway to our senior club.

CLUB CHAMPIONS! - at the Cobras presentation day last week the club recognized some of our players who have demonstrated sustained excellence and leadership over multiple seasons. The girls Rising Star was jointly awarded to Harriet Credlin, Rachael Bullock and Imogen Borrello from the girls u12 team. Co-winners of the boys rising star award were Finn Steinfort and Ben Chippindall (whose u12 mixed team also just won the Div 3 premiership). Finally the Club Champion award was won by Mitch Vogdanos & Eric Plant. Former Cobras and current AFL stars rowelly18 and sam_grilla LJ both won each of these awards, suggesting the sky is the limit for these worthy winners

PRIDE OF THE SNAKEPIT! The Cobras U12 mixed team have won the 2026 Div 3 premiership in a high quality match against Preston this afternoon. Two points up at half time, and eight points up at 3QT, a huge spread of contributors ensured they were never challenged in the last quarter, running out 15 point winners. Congrats to Dave Chippindall & Loz Furlan for an exceptional season & to all the boys! 🏆

COBRAS FOR PREMIERS
After finishing the home and away season on top of the ladder, the Cobras U12 mixed team convincingly won their semifinal and headed straight through to the big dance. Their semifinal opponent won the preliminary final and so a rematch for the 2026 premiership will be played this Sunday afternoon. The boys would love the support from the ❤️💛🖤 Army, so anyone who is free please come and cheer for them as they do the Cobras proud. Canterbury v Preston u12 Grand Final. Zerbes Reserve, East Doncaster 12:30pm

Finally, May Rowell was the third person inducted yesterday as a life member of the Cobras! Matt Rowell started his football journey at the Canterbury Cobras in the Tackers in 2009,
playing more than 125 games through to the Under 14s before moving to the
Boroondara Hawks.
Matt represented the Cobras with great distinction, winning six Club B&F, five YJFL league B&F,, our clubs U12Rising Star Award and U14 Club Champion Award.
He went on to represent the YJFL, Victoria, the Oakleigh Chargers and Vic Metro,
earning All-Australian honours before being selected by the Gold Coast Suns with the
number one pick in the AFL Draft. In 2025 he won the Brownlow Medal. Listening to Matt’s Brownlow speech and hearing him acknowledge what this club
meant to him was an incredibly proud moment for everyone at the Cobras, and he helped Cobras everywhere stand just a little taller. He is remembered as someone who always put his team first, remained grounded,
listened, showed respect and was incredibly kind to everyone around him.
Matt has shown every young player at our club what hard work, determination and
character can achieve.

COBRAS FOR LIFE!! at yesterday‘s season presentation day, we were thrilled to introduce three new CJFC Life Members, showing a different side of what it takes to build and sustain the Cobras community. Omar Sali was inducted after over 10 years of club service, including three in Auskick, and seven years coaching a group of boys from u8 to U14. The Credlin family was honoured following myriad contributions including sustained service as club secretary (Kate), assistant coaches (tom, Lulu), playing excellence (Harriet, Tom) and years of contributions steering a cohort of boys from U8 through to the first every Youth team fielded by the Cobras (Nigel, Tom, Kate). PRIDE OF THE SNAKEPIT - this season the cobras fielded a team in the Youth age group for the first time in 20 years. The boys have had an exceptional year, finishing 3rd and certainly have got comfortable with a tight game, having played in two draws in the last 3 weeks! Maybe this was the difference - after a very tight first half, the Youth boys lifted their output and were clearly the better team, running out comfortable winners by 14 points. Every chance now against Banyule in the preliminary final next week! GO COBRAS!! 🐍

ROCKIN IT - after going 1-1 against Brunswick through the regular season, Chris Angus’ girls faced off for a third time in the first semifinal of Division 1 U12 girls against Brunswick. After establishing an early lead, their opponents fought hard and the cobras found themselves behind at 3QT. A special last quarter saw them kick 2 goals to a solitary behind and the girls were singing the song loudly after the final siren! They take on Fitzroy next week in the prelim. Go get ‘em!!!

GRANNY BOUND - after winning the last seven games of the season, the Cobras u12 mixed team finish top of the ladder. In the second semifinal, they played a high-quality match against Preston, who they had not defeated through the regular season. After lead by a solitary goal at 3QT they finally converted their dominance in regular play to run away to a convincing victory and book themselves a spot in the grand final in a fortnight. Super proud of you boys, and good luck in the big dance!

A GREAT SEASON - congratulations to the u11 cobras, who after a fabulous season, unfortunately fell just short today in their first semifinal. A lot to be proud of, and a lot to look forward to in 2027.
