I am really happy to have just listened to this podcast and can't wait to share it with you. "Dr Louise Newson is a GP and Menopause Specialist who is campaingning for better menopause care for all women". If you are a menopausal woman or a partner, husband, brother, father of a perimenopausal or menopausal woman I would strongly encourage you to listen to this podcast. You will need a spare 1:15, but it has helped to demystify what I thought I knew about Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and the role it can play in helping to treat the many symptoms associated with menopause.

Since nearly all of my women clients are perimenopausal or menopausal you may be suffering any combination of the following symptoms: memory and concentration issues, mood changes and anxiety, sleep disorders, night sweats and hot flushes, weight gain, joint aches and pains, and just for a bit more "fun", vaginal dryness and decreased libido. If you are, then perhaps it would be worth having a conversation with your GP about Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

A wonderful friend of mine shared this podcast with me and I am so grateful, so thank you - you know who you are!

There is mounting evidence supporting the fact that any kind of exercise can help with your mental health. So pick an activity that you can enjoy and get into it.

Experts say there should be more focus on using physical activity, by itself or in combination with other treatments, to treat and prevent depression and anxiety.

The verdict is in. Movement is most often the best medicine for lower back pain. Thanks for sharing this article Rachel and School of Strength Bega.

"Functional Training has a purpose and translates to an activity beyond your workout". To understand what it is and how it benefits all of us, have a read of this short article. We have a strong focus on "functional training" and this article explains why.

It's not as complicated as it sounds.

The Conversation has published this great article written by Roger Fielding (Associate Director of the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, Professor of Medicine, Tufts University) to help us understand why building muscle as we age is harder, but by no means should you be discouraged. On the contrary, strength and mobility training becomes more important than ever.

"So the next time you are sweating during a workout session, remember that you are building muscle strength that is vital to maintaining mobility and good health throughout a long life."

https://theconversation.com/50-year-old-muscles-just-cant-grow-big-like-they-used-to-the-biology-of-how-muscles-change-with-age-172941?fbclid=IwAR2hk6RvMjnUMj-QPD2CbowXTJgopGNYCw9sVjBpQqa2odIOragt3V3zDJ0

As people age, the chemical signaling pathways in muscles become less potent, and it gets harder to build muscle and maintain strength. But the health benefits of strength training only increase with age.
