Freestyle Martial Arts training for children and adults in a family friendly environment. Kids Karate and Zen Do Kai. We train during school terms.

Activ8 Martial Arts trains twice a week in the school hall of Sacred Heart Primary School in Pearce, Woden. Classes:
Kids Karate | Mon, Wed 6:00-6:50pm
Adults Martial Arts | Mon, Wed 7-8pm

Fees:
$200 per student per term, regardless of how many classes the student attends. Additional family members are $100 each per term. Payment is required by third week of term. Casual rate is $20 a class. Our

Zen Do Kai freestyle Martial Art classes focus on effective self defence techniques to best equip the student in any scenario, striking, restraints, takedowns, multiple attackers, weaponry, ground defence. These skills are taken from various martial arts styles including Karate, Boxing, Muay Thai, Aikido, Judo, Jui- jitsu, Kali Escrima. More than just the physical, Activ8 classes help to equip you with the knowledge to avoid conflict, and to develop social and environmental awareness. That said, we are not a 'fight club' - while students may participate in sparring, they do so in a controlled manner.

From the beginning of Term 3 Activ8 will be merging with Tenacity Martial Arts to form a single Zen Do Kai club for the ACT under the Tenacity banner. Together, we will continue to train on the same days and times at both the Pearce and Fyshwick locations but the clubs will be united. Training at the Pearce location will be Mondays and Wednesdays 6-7pm for the Kids Karate and 7-8pm for youth and adult Zen Do Kai. Training at The Stockade on Kembla Street in Fyshwick is Tuesdays at 7-8pm and Thursdays 6.30 to 7.30. We look forward to seeing all current, returning and new students as we go forwards together.

Recently the Activ8 Black Belts, State Head Hanshi Steve Newton along with Sensei Brani and others from Tenacity Martial Arts attended the BJMA/ ZDK 55th Anniversary Gala Dinner in Melbourne. Great weekend catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

Term 2 2025 starts Monday 28 April. We train Monday and Wednesday, kids classes from 6-7, Adults from 7-8. All returning, previous and new students welcome.

Congratulations to Amy Trotman on completing her 2nd Degree marathon grading. It was a very strong effort and a testament to the effort she has put into training. Thanks to BJMA ACT Head Hanshi Steve Newton and Tenacity Martial Arts for making this happen.

Welcome to 2025. Term One kicks off Monday 3 February. We train Monday and Wednesday with kids at 6-7pm, youth and adults 7-8pm.
All continuing, returning and new members welcome. We look forward to seeing you at our Pearce dojo.

On Saturday 21 December we will be hosting a 2hr session with Hanshi Steve Newton. A couple of things we will be focusing on will be foot work and movement, and then sword work. Starting time is 9am and the cost is $15. All BJMA ACT adult class student welcome. Bring a Bokken if you have one and it will be in full uniform.
Activ8 regular junior and senior classes will continue until 18 December, and the last Sunday Session for the year will be on the 22nd. Sunday Sessions will continue through January.

Term 4 at Activ8 kicks off Monday 14 October.
Kids classes Monday and Wednesday 6pm-7, youth and adults from 7-8pm.
And we will be bringing back our Sunday 5pm workout sessions for this term - talk to one of the instructors if you are interested in attending.

Congratulations to our two new Green Belts, Billy and John. Thanks to all of the others who also participated in the grading.
That wraps up Term 2, and we are looking forward to more progress in Term 3. We will be back to training on Monday 22 July.

Just a reminder - Monday 10 June is a public holiday so we will be only running a 7pm class, but all students both junior and senior are welcome.
