The Happy Beat Dance Crew is a group for dancers 18+, who are neurodiverse and/or have intellectual disability & want to partner dance. The Happy Beat Crew builds on important life skills, inspires a love of dance, self confidence, builds self esteem. We welcome you to join us in this great endeavour to bring dance to all. We believe that your level of ability should not limit your dance possibili
ties. We dance Ballroom, Latin, New Vogue, Sequence partner dances and Solo dance. Every Tuesday 4.30pm to 5.15pm 24 Chandler St Belconnen. The cost is $5 a session. We aim to make it possible for our dancers to be included in the mainstream dance community, at socials. We also provide opportunities for those who want to Perform. I realise that in all the years I have been teaching and since I set up the Display Team in Mackay many years ago before moving to Canberra, I haven't explained the philosophy behind what I do.....So for those who are interested...here it is. In DANCE we can include everybody, mainstream and those with more complex needs! So my aim was to train students in a class of their own and then include them completely in the full life of the dance community. This means at all our social events and in our performances we are fully integrated. This allows our differently abled students to be completely INTEGRATED in the dance community. Over the years in our various groups we have performed in Sydney three times, Brisbane once, in Mackay, Japan Osaka Latin Festival and Canberra. Each time our dancers perform they are building their skills and confidence. I can't do this without the enthusiastic help of our assistant dancers, support workers and of the Mum's and Dad's. So tell everyone about our Happy Beat Dance Crew classes and our Happy Beat Dance Crew display team. Everyone in the community is encouraged to join, and/or support us.
