Lokahi Outrigger Canoe Club Lokahi Outrigger Canoe Club (LOCC) is a club founded by passionate people .

While we train four days a weeks, beginners and those getting back into the sport are asked to come to Monday, Thursday or the Saturday social sessions. Wednesdays are hard HIIT and Saturdays are long endurance sessions, both for our experienced members training for races.

We crossed the finish line of the 42km change race, an unforgettable journey that showed the true spirit of adventure of the Lokahi Outrigger Canoe Club. With over 60 crews from around Australia and beyond gathered at the starting line, the air was electric with competition. Our team, comprising both first-time Hamilton Island Cup 2026 rookies and seasoned veterans, was fueled by unyielding determination. Despite the training hurdles posed by Lake Burley's summer heat and algae-filled waters that disrupted our rhythm, we pushed forward with unwavering resolve. Battling rough waters, we rode the waves with determination, savoring every moment. Our changes propelled us forward, proving our club's mantra: we didn't falter, and we certainly didn't finish last. The journey to this moment was filled with anticipation, but it was the perfect prelude to our performance, showcasing the heart and spirit we brought to the canoe. We are grateful for our fearless steerers and paddling companions who shared this dream. We had the time of our lives.

Let's take a moment to recognize the girls who had an absolute blast participating in the sprint races. As the canoes lined up at the starting line, they all strived to maintain their position and wait, although many were forced to adjust their paddling and reposition. We were in the midst of this process when the flag was lowered, but it did not prevent us from regaining lost ground and surpassing numerous other canoes. It was an incredibly enjoyable experience. The Lōkahi women's team delivered another outstanding performance today at Hamilton Island.
