Speaking tip for Monday: when you stand in your space and share your ideas and insights, we see you and hear you.

When you are fully present you are powerful. Think about the tasks you love doing and do well in your job.

When you 'live' that feeling we will see it on the podium.

Try to love your audience. That is our Friday to share. I know it is hard to do sometimes but if we focus on what we are giving and sharing with an audience it makes the whole exchange less scary.

We also love taking any opportunity to show you images of the brilliant speakers who have finished the training because you can see in the photo how comfortable they become on stage.

Here is a speaking tip as the working week begins: speaking and writing go together.
At some point most presentations benefit from some words written down. It might be a short written phrase, a few words on a piece of paper or a complete written speech.

Spoken word communication is made up of words and sentences. Have a think about what words and sentences you need to include in your next presentation.

Today's for presentations - introduce your topic clearly e.g. this meeting is about.... our focus today is... I am launching our report on... etc.

Don't speak too quickly. Give your audience time to absorb your message.

Once you have shared the topic, add some more information about it.

For example, this report has been informed by your feedback... or the industry consultation has shown us that.... etc.

Too often we forget how important it is to make our subject matter/topic really clear to our audience.

By the way this is a photo of me from a while back as MC at the launch in for Property Council of Australia.

For this event, as for any other, it was really important to introduce the topic very clearly at the beginning. While attendees know why they are there, it still sets the tone and ensures a good steady start to the discussion.

Venue was the beautiful National Portrait Gallery, Canberra.
