South Gungahlin Raiders Netball Club first took the courts in 2003 with 17 junior teams born out of local primary schools. The Club grew rapidly and by 2008 there were almost 400 players and 39 teams. To expand the base of netball in Gungahlin and provide an avenue for further growth, the Club successfully divided its membership into two district Clubs at the end of 2008. Membership grows by an average of 8% each year. The player profile has shifted over time and nowadays senior and intermediate team numbers equal juniors and netta numbers. The club's expansion in senior age groups demonstrates the advantages of a community-based club.

Crash course highlights 📸

Thank you to Erin PhysioSport O'Connor for delivering a crash course session to our SGNC members.

We learnt all things about knee prep, injury prevention, exercise load and strapping. All things we need to know to keep our bodies netball ready!

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

The theme also reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us.
